The groundbreaking design of the façade of this newly built house in Estella-Lizarra, in Navarre, makes it stand out among the newly built houses in its surroundings. The house, which features three floors plus a ground floor entrance, is a perfect example of the advantages offered by Dekton’s large format slabs and the contemporary elegance of the colours chosen by the team of architects of S mas C Arquitectura SL.

“The decision to use Dekton for this façade was based both on its design features, in the case of the owner, and on its technical features, in my case, as an architect”, says Maikel Casado Larrasoain, project manager. “The feeling generated by the material is spectacular”, he further says.

Two Dekton colours to enhance its geometry

In terms of design, the colours chosen enhance a very strong industrial character that makes this façade a very contemporary and innovative element. Specifically, 290 m² of Dekton Kreta and 20 m² of Dekton Eter, both 8 mm thick and made to measure, were used for this project.

The matt grey shade, inspired by classic cement, of Dekton Kreta gives the design a very unique texture that lends the building a serene and modern feel. To create contrast and enhance the geometry of the façade, a strip in Dekton Eter was added. This colour, a dark granite shade, accentuates the contemporary character of the project.

Great support and easy assembly

“Working with Cosentino was very convenient. They fully adapted to the customer’s taste and to my own requirements in terms of design and quality”, says the architect about the wide range of Dekton colours and the multiple modulation possibilities that the company offered them. And he continues: “The orders were customised according to the elevation of the slabs and the floor in which they were to be placed, and the different pieces were numbered at the fitter’s discretion, which made assembly much faster”.

The result is not only spectacular in terms of design, but also ensures optimum quality thanks to Dekton’s technical features. The surface is resistant to temperature changes, stains and scratches, and thanks to its easy maintenance and cleaning, it also ensures that it will remain as good as new throughout its lifetime.

Fixing system with chemical anchoring

The chosen fixing system for this façade was the DKC system, which consists of a chemical anchoring by means of adhesive on ventilated façades. This system is endorsed by the leading suppliers in the market and includes an adhesion promoter, a double-sided tape and an adhesive for application on vertical lines. One of its main advantages is that it can be used with full slab formats cut-to-size horizontally or vertically, for which Dekton 8 mm slabs are a very competitive solution both from a technical point of view and in terms of efficient assembly.

Cosentino’s USP department (Service Unit for Commercial Projects) provided us with essential support in terms of cutting and material utilisation, in addition to the support we received from the suppliers of the profiles and the adhesive system. “I was offered different designs and cuttings, always in close collaboration with the fitter to develop the substructure design properly, offering a lacquer colour for the fixing clips very similar to that of the Dekton model chosen”, says the architect.

For these systems, it is important to have a qualified fitter working according to the installation guide and adhering to the temperature and humidity ranges indicated by the supplier.
