Danish actress and influencer Molly Egelind owns a charming old apartment in Copenhagen that needed updating. The spacious, light-filled kitchen presented a very complex challenge, with its worktop, splashback, tricky angles and uneven walls, as well as round sockets and numerous details, all crying out for a contemporary update while retaining a classic charm.

Given the heavy use of this area, it was imperative that the materials could withstand the wear and tear of daily use without compromising on style and functionality. This is why Dekton Arga was chosen.

The kitchen is spacious, but full of odd nooks and crannies that make it difficult to create a seamless layout. Rather than overlook this, it was decided to turn it to an advantage. To achieve this, two distinct work zones were created: one along the window wall with no wall units, and the other along the adjacent wall with staggered units. The former houses the sink and main worktop, while the latter accommodates the oven, an extra worktop, wall units and even a small sofa at one end.

The wall and base units are a soft shade of brown, set against a backdrop of off-white walls and wooden floors. As a result, the worktops needed a colour that would harmonise between the two and complement the brightness of the room. “I love the classic look of Dekton Arga ultracompact surface and the reflections of its surface, not to mention the fact that the worktop is contemporary and easy to maintain. It really is working wonders for us,” asserts Molly.
