Trained at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris, architect and interior designer Gilles Reibell is known for his global vision of architecture, which has made him an all-round architect capable of creating everything from buildings to pieces of furniture. “I like architects who are also technical engineers and very good decorators (…). Outstanding architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Robert Mallet Stevens, Gio Ponti or, more recently, Álvaro Siza, Edouardo Souto de Moura, Sou Fujimoto or Bjarke Ingels inspire my work every day”, he explains.

It is therefore no wonder that he has launched the No Waste collection, an exclusive proposal featuring beautiful and sustainable pieces of furniture developed in collaboration with Cosentino, using Dekton and Silestone slabs and which provides an answer to a question: how to escape from the linearity of cladding and extend the material to other uses?

No Waste, or the beauty that arises from ‘limitations’

According to Antoine Lavoisier, one of the key players in the scientific revolution, nothing is lost or created, everything is transformed. Thus, making use of the ‘limitation’ of the rectangle in which Dekton and Silestone are manufactured, Reibell has imagined tables, seats and lamps that make the most of every centimetre of the stone. Hence the name of the collection, No Waste, as the designer makes full use of the material and there are no losses during the cutting and shaping processes.

This has been made possible thanks to the inventiveness of Reibell, who created his pieces on the basis of a unique, very elegant and geometrically perfect puzzle, and the know-how of Blanc Carrare, a leading fabricator with over 70 years of experience.

Dekton, the ideal material for outdoor furniture thanks to its extreme strength

“I am amazed by Dekton’s technicality. It’s amazing how it combines extraordinary resistance to extreme conditions with the design of different marbles with elegant veins. That’s why I chose it for my outdoor furniture collection”, says Reibell.

Reibell refers to Dekton’s ability to withstand scratches, stains, cold, freezing, thawing, UV rays, heat and even fire and to remain intact. In fact, it comes with a 25-year warranty in ideal conditions.

Among the different pieces in the No Waste collection, special mention should be made of the TRIUMPHI and TRINI tables, sculptural pieces that evoke a new classicism. In both cases, the base is made in Dekton Laurent, a refined colour inspired by Port Laurent natural stone. Its surface texture creates a play of shades that enhance the contrast of its tones, so that its golden veins dominate the space and bring warmth to its dark, cold background, which gives depth to the whole.

As for the tabletop, it features a circle made of Dekton Aura, a shade that echoes Calacatta and Carrara marbles, with a white background crossed by veins reminiscent of these two natural stones.

Interestingly, the hollows of the first piece are the fragments that make up the base of the second. “The hollow areas of a piece of furniture can be the base for others, while maintaining elegance and proportion”, says Reibell.

Elegant and exclusive furniture made of Silestone

Silestone, the most sustainable and cutting-edge surface of premium minerals and recycled materials available on the market, is also present in the No Waste collection. For example, this material was used for the ANNA stool, a curved piece featuring Silestone Ethereal Haze, a shade with a strong character, in which the interplay of patterns merges with the deep, neutral background colour.
