The narrow spit of sand at Sandbanks, which forms a small, privileged peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean, is home to some of the most valuable property in the world. In fact, its square metres command some of the highest prices in the world and its relaxed, affluent lifestyle has led to it being dubbed ‘Britain’s Palm Beach’. Here we find a newly built residence where a variety of Dekton colours have been used to clad everything from the façade to the sauna.
With its contemporary style of large windows, right angles and modern vertical lighting, the house immediately grabs your attention. But the first thing that catches the eye is the cladding, thanks to Dekton Lunar, a reinterpretation of the traditional cement aesthetic with an industrial twist. Its subtle texture against an off-white background makes it very trendy, perfectly suited to the architectural proposal of this project. The colour is combined with Dekton Domoos, a sober graphite black used in the eaves to provide contrast.
In this avant-garde space, Dekton was the obvious choice because of the unique properties of Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface. These include high resistance to UV rays and the saltpetre present in the area, as well as to water, stains, freezing and thawing, ensuring that it remains intact over time. So durable, in fact, that it comes with a commercial warranty of up to 25 years and requires virtually no maintenance.
Dekton for interiors too
The interior of the house also benefits from the wide range of colours and design advantages of Dekton, which has been used to clad the staircase and as worktops in the two kitchens: the main kitchen and a very unique one next to the indoor swimming pool. In both cases, Dekton Bergen was chosen, with a realistic aesthetic based on the natural Portobello stone. The beauty of its greyish veins, with a sculptural pattern on a whitish background with delicate filigree, perfectly complements the neutral and serene environment in which it is set.
Meanwhile, the dining table proudly boasts a striking bespoke tabletop in Dekton Trilium. An amalgamation of volcanic stone-inspired tones with intense grey and black accents, this is the first Dekton colour to be made from up to 80% recycled material in 2016.
Dekton iD: customised colours for an exclusive look
For the bathroom and indoor pool mentioned above, the client wanted something exclusive, so they ordered two unique Dekton iD colours. This Cosentino service customises Dekton slabs with unlimited possibilities in terms of colours, patterns, textures and finishes.
The colour chosen for the bathrooms is Liquid Sky, a swirling, marbled pattern of ethereal air that celebrates the scientific principles of fluid dynamics on a white base punctuated by grey veins. The pool, on the other hand, evokes the characteristics of Dekton Orix, a worn, cement-inspired surface.
Finally, both the pool and sauna floors feature Dekton Nacre, an elegant cream colour ranging from a fine micro-cement to a lime plaster look, with subtle details and a degraded texture that adds a high sensory value, perfect for these relaxation areas.
