The three colours of the Pietra Kode collection have inspired the two designers to create unique and contemporary pieces, such as an elegant mirror, chairs, side tables and a stunning console table, all of which can be seen in Cosentino’s showroom in Malaysia.

Two creative minds from two different studios show, through exquisite design, the multiple possibilities and versatility of Dekton Pietra Kode as a material for use in different decorative pieces and designer furniture. This is the latest collaboration unveiled by Cosentino, in which the company showcases its new collection designed by architect Daniel Germani, which reinterprets the timeless beauty of three classic stones: Vicenza stone, Travertine marble and Ceppo di Gré.

“They were gathering a team of multidisciplinary designers to design and create customised home accessories and interior design pieces tailored to specific needs for different sectors such as hospitality, fashion and culture. This experience gave me the platform I needed to expand my skills and paved the way for me to create my own brand”, she further says.

Designer Wei Ming, who founded the Aureole Design studio in 2013, began her professional career in the field of typography and graphic design. Perhaps for this reason, the well-defined lines of her designs are associated with an elegance based on formal balance. “My passion for furniture and lighting design is what pushed me to explore beyond the two-dimensional, and in 2007 I had the opportunity to enter into a completely different field thanks to a local design studio”, explains the designer about her first steps in the industry.

Currently working on the lighting design for a restaurant, Ming has just unveiled this collection of pieces designed for Cosentino using the new Pietra Kode surfaces. The series created by Ming includes a pedestal mirror that evokes the geometric lines and simple, repetitive forms of Art Deco style. “Malaysia boasts Art Deco architecture that stands out in Southeast Asia. I fondly remember my grandparents’ Art Deco house in Georgetown, on Penang island, where they lived after World War II, from 1946 until the 1980s”, says the designer.

Aureole Design explores this spirit through its ‘Column Light’, a piece created in VK01 Nebbia – one of the colours of the Vicenza range, from the Pietra Kode collection –, which extends as a sculptural pedestal. “It is an exploration of the use of the surface beyond wall cladding or table tops”, the designer says. “Thanks to the wide range of Dekton thicknesses, the surface offers great versatility to create thinner forms”, the designer points out as the main advantage of the Cosentino material. In addition to this piece, the designer has created a set of tables and chairs in VK04 Grafite, also from the Vicenza range.

Designer Naythan Low of Doubble Interior Associates comes from a background in architecture and construction, something that is evident in the geometric forms and volumes of the pieces he has created in his partnership with Cosentino. “Our designs stem from the concept of ‘diversity’. The reason behind this is to show people that Cosentino products can be used for many other things besides the kitchen and, more importantly, can fit into any type of furniture and material”, affirms Low. “I think that the market still associates Cosentino and other stone products with kitchen worktops and work surfaces only, and with this project we want to show that Cosentino products go far beyond that”, the designer further says.

This is not the first time that Low has worked with Cosentino surfaces. From the first time he worked with them, back in 2016 in Singapore, until today, the designer has developed total trust in the company’s products. “I think everyone would agree that the brand itself is synonymous with prestige. Year after year, Cosentino demonstrates its quality of service”, he says.

For this collaboration, Low has presented three pieces created using the colours of the Pietra Kode collection: the console ‘La Chapa’, in VK02 Avorio, and the ‘Acero’ chairs and ‘Madera’ table, the latter in VK03 Grigio.

Although he loves the three proposals inspired by the Pietra Kode collection, the designer chooses VK03 Grigio, from the Vicenza range, as his favourite, a grey shade with warm touches inspired by Grigio Alpi natural stone.

“Personally, we like ecru and grey surfaces. The combination of these shades with a minimalist, raw and greenery concept would be a perfect mix”, he says finally.
