Joja Interior Studio sacrificed part of the kitchen to create more space, transforming it into entertainment areas where family and friends can gather in this Singapore home. The homeowners preferred a smaller kitchen and more space to eat and socialise.

For example, there are features such as a very long TV unit, designed to make the entrance to the house look longer and to add depth to the room. The same goes for the dining table, which is of a generous size and has a sturdy appearance.

To achieve all these solutions, the studio chose Cosentino surfaces, looking for ‘a drastically larger effect for a more luxurious look, with high quality textures that look and feel real thanks to their natural stone appearance’.

As the designers say of Cosentino, ‘it adds real value to the overall look and creates a cohesive design space throughout. There is nothing better than having a good piece of stone, halfway between a work of art and a sculpture, which also has functional advantages in terms of practicality, maintenance and durability’.

Joja Interior Studio had a clear choice of materials. ‘The choice of the matt Dekton Albarium surface for the TV unit was the most coherent option with the rest of the project, which has microcement throughout. The texture of the plaster on the wall behind the TV is also a similar shade’.

At the same time, the Dekton Albarium colour gives a bright and inviting feel, making the kitchen look more open and larger despite its small size. Using it for the splashback also helps to create a more continuous flow, giving the kitchen a more spacious feel from a single colour and material. The bathroom vanity units and countertops were also in the same colour.

‘The look of Dekton TK06 Marmorio perfectly complements the rest of the house, standing out against the clean microcement floor and the pristine white walls. The black outline of the base of the dining table is designed to highlight the Dekton TK06 Marmorio stone top,’ the studio concludes.

The customer was in love with travertine marble, but it was impractical to use the natural stone for a dining table. So the studio opted for Dekton TK06 Marmorio from the Pietra Kode collection, ‘which is more practical because it is more resistant to stains and scratches than real raw travertine’. Furthermore, Dekton’s low porosity makes it hygienic and easy to maintain, ensuring a long service life backed by a 25-year warranty.
