IK Partners is a participation company based in Amsterdam. The Valley, the building in Zuidas, proved to be the perfect location for IK for continuous growth and an excellent fit with the dynamic, characteristic and natural look they had envisioned. The architectural firm Fokkema & Partners was given free reign to design the new office in Zuidas with the task of designing a high-quality, functional and timeless interior.

Fokkema & Partners was hereby inspired by the setting in The Valley. The natural stone in the façade, the contrasts in colouring and materialisation, the façade and the planting of all the terraces were the inspiration for the interior of the IK offices.

The interior was integrally designed. The layout is both functional and spatial: acoustics, art, planting and various installation techniques were all taken into consideration. This is composed of a palette of different materials: wooden floors and wall cladding, carpet, upholstered walls and tops and furniture made of stone.

To connect with the natural stone of the building and to achieve a high-quality, aesthetic and technically sustainable finish, the architect chose a number of iconic elements in the design for Dekton by Cosentino. Due to the hardness of Dekton and the fact that this material is scratch-free and easy to clean, it was used in various places in the IK offices.

Application

The horizontal and vertical cladding of the central “duo furniture” in the foyer; reception and standing furniture; the kitchen countertops and rear and side walls of the niches of the pantries; tabletop in lunch area; cover of top sheet of cabinets in the offices.

Dekton Stonika Arga in the finishes Xgloss and Polished was chosen here. Inspired by the quartzite of the Taj Mahal, Dekton Arga combines the luxury of natural stone with the properties of Dekton. The smooth cream background, with subtle brown-gold veins, intensifies the dramatic structure. A hyper-realistic drawing, with a dazzling shine, gives depth and richness to this material.

Dekton Opera has also been used, this colour is inspired by the elegant Italian Carrara marble and has a unique Velvet finish. As the name suggests, the surface feels velvety soft to the touch. Simple, light grey veins provide more depth and refinement on a soft white background, resulting in a classic elegant look.
