1. The most interesting architectural and decorative feature of the project The kitchen island is the centrepiece of this project. At almost 4.7m in length it certainly can’t be missed. The real beauty of the island is found in the luxurious curved faces. The stone has been crafted in such a way that it creates a seamless curved waterfall end which then transitions into an “S” shaped detail that creates the overhang for the seated area. The other end of the island features a wrap-around breakfast bar which can accommodate up to 8 people. This was a key element of the brief and the end result is an entertainers dream. 2. Why the architect/designer chose Cosentino material The client had very specific taste when it came to the colour of their stone. There needed to be veining to replicate that of natural marble but it needed to be subtle and not too overpowering. The design theme throughout the project was “Coastal Luxe” which played into the flowing, curvaceous nature of the island design and other design features throughout the property. A crisp white colour palette featured throughout which meant the stone also had to have a very white base colour. The Ethereal Glow was a perfect match, the gold veining adding a dash of luxe which plays beautifully off the brass fixtures. With a family of 4 including 2 younger kids a product that was easy to maintain and resistant to staining was a key consideration when selecting the benchtop material. 3. The advantages and benefits of the applied Cosentino material in this specific application The benefit of using the Silestone product was the ability to thermoform the product to create seamless curves with minimal joins. Using an alternative product would have resulted in a different manufacturing and installation method which would not have resulted in the same finish. Questions for the client 1. Why did you choose these colors? After reviewing a number of alternatives, the Silestone Ethereal Glow was just the most perfect fit for our vision. The practicality of using engineered stone also suited our needs as we required a product that would be easy to maintain and durable. 2. What is the best benefits of Silestone/Dekton surfaces for your space? We love that it is so easy to keep clean. Even though it is very white, its very resistant to staining and wipes clean effortlessly.
