Dekton by Cosentino, the headstone at Casa Decor 2022

The new edition of Casa Decor, the most important design, interior design, and trends exhibition in Spain, opened its doors on 7th April. This year, the building houses 57 spaces designed by the most renowned interior designers and decorators in Spain. In the words of the organisers, “a blank canvas” that points to clear trends and designs. Craftsmanship, innovation, technology, Classicism vs. Futurism, organic and natural spaces that focus on sustainability over metallic and industrial effects and disruptive patterns and veins… and of course, applications and comprehensive proposals: stunning kitchens and bathrooms, floorings, claddings, ceilings, worktops, etc…

Is it possible to imagine a material that encompasses and adapts to all these trends, designs and variety of applications? The ultracompact Dekton® by Cosentino surface shows that it is possible, and Casa Decor 2022 is proof of it. A full display of solutions and applications, from worktops and floorings to ceilings, frames and pieces of furniture; as well as the wide range of colours and finishes that Dekton® has to offer, including a number of this year’s novelties, which make this brand the headstone of the most outstanding spaces at Casa Decor.

Here is a tour of the different spaces where Dekton® shows all its features, colours, textures and applications:

Space Must Wanted by Comad Arquitectos – “Templo 89”

The leading role of Dekton® is evident as soon as you enter the building. Its entrance lobby features about 30 Dekton® slabs in the colour Rem and with a thickness of 4 mm, which immediately achieve the effect intended by architects Beatriz and Teresa Enríquez Amo The space is dominated by proportions and symmetry, combining original elements of the lobby, such as the mouldings or the marble floor, with the wall cladding in Dekton®, which act as magnificent columns that welcome visitors. The complex slab layout also allows the use of top-down lighting. Dekton® presence is rounded off by 2 countertops and 4 volumetric totems or support pillars.

Space Somos2Studio by Eva Jurado and María Díaz Leguina – “A Roman Bath”

Drawing inspiration from Roman public baths, the Somos2Studio space is as spectacular as it is majestic. Taking advantage of the 4 metre high vaulted ceilings, they have managed to recreate this classic style. In this bath, Dekton® reigns supreme: its Kelya shade was used for the wall and floor claddings in combination with touches of Dekton® Rem in the form of a mosaic, creating continuity with the entrance of the building. From this space a door leads to two private cubicles. The walls of the cubicles are clad in Dekton® Khalo XGloss.

Bticino Space, by Diego Rodríguez/Concepto DR – “Connected home”

On the second floor we find one of the most anticipated proposals of this year’s edition. The master hand of Diego Rodríguez has designed a living room where comfort, warmth and cosiness are enhanced by the use of the latest home automation systems. A subtle play of textures and materials, enhanced by natural light, in which Dekton® Nacre, from the upcoming Kraftizen collection, envelopes the room with 40 slabs placed practically all over the floor, on the wall -with a thickness of 4 mm, and in a very original way, on the ceiling.

Also on the second floor is the proposal of one of the studios that never disappoints and is highly anticipated at the event. Together with Mónica Bartolessis, the interior designer from Córdoba reveals his facet as a plastic artist to offer a creative and intimate universe, a replica of the office where artists receive their clients. A warm space in a neutral colour palette in which Dekton® Nilium, used on the floor and doorjambs, plays its part and, at the same time, a bold design highlighted, among other elements, by the futuristic table in Dekton® Sirius, a striking black shade.

Space Jacob Delafon – “Grands Boulevards”

There is still a must-see on the second floor, one of the most eye-catching bathroom spaces of this year’s edition. Pilar García de Gonzalo, Laura Huerta, Evelien Korte and Laura Pérez, of U Interior Design, are the creators of this proposal inspired by 20th century Paris and reminiscent of the Art Deco style. And it is precisely with Dekton® that they have managed to give the space the desired touch of contemporaneity and modern elegance. To do so, they opted for one of the brand’s most stunning colours, belonging to one of its upcoming collections, and used it for the wall cladding, in combination with Dekton® Edora, which was used for the flooring.

Space Sinmas Studio – “Match”

We go up to the next floor and take another step in the design proposal. On the third floor is one of the spaces that best reflect the futuristic trend so present at Casa Decor. Sigfrido Serra and Mateo Climent, of Sinmas studio, break the mould inspired by the great fashion designer, André Courrèges. Everything is possible in this living room. This groundbreaking and avant-garde design is complemented with a Dekton® ID customised colour. The material has been used both on the wall and in the furniture, embracing the room and giving meaning to the whole.

Space Alvic, by Héctor Ruíz-Velázquez – “Modular Home”

In this particular play of contrasts, we move from the Sinmas Space to a more functional space designed for Alvic by Héctor Ruiz-Velázquez, one of the top architects at Casa Decor. The contrast between different soft, solid colours in matt finishes stands out, providing balance and a sense of well-being to the whole. The floor in Dekton® Neural contributes to this effect, while adding a touch of elegance and the high performance properties of the material in terms of durability and hardness for a heavy duty surface.

Space Axor by Estudio Reciente – “Reflejo” [Reflection]

We end our tour on the fourth floor, with one of this year’s most breathtaking bathroom spaces. Carlos Tomás, of Estudio Reciente, proposes a space conceived as a personal and contemporary temple. An interpretation of luxury combined with design and customisation. The “Reflejo” bathroom features a slope with steps that creates a path between the different elements: washbasin, bathtub and shower, almost works of art made from Dekton® and Sensa by Cosentino® quartzite. Thus, the outside of the washbasin and bathtub and the shower cladding are made from Sensa Vancouver, which has also been used on the door mouldings, giving consistency to the space. As for Dekton® Bergen, it has been used in the interior of all these almost works of art. Last but not least, the neutral, light shade of Dekton® Danae was used for the floor.
