Everyday, customers who visit the historic Katharinenthal Café in Tallinn, Estonia, are left in awe. And not only for its delicious gastronomic offering, but also for the excellent range of materials used in the establishment, the work of the Marmi Futerno studio. The Katharinenthal also has a café-bakery in Estonia’s elegant Stockmann shopping centre, which, along with the Rikets Lilled flower shop, is a popular place to sample its delicacies, both for the taste and the view.
Marmi Futerno is a stone manufacturer that creates bespoke products from natural stone, artificial stone and ceramics. “Make nature naturally yours. Our know-how goes beyond experience and skills,” the studio says. “We have been looking at, touching and feeling stone for decades, and over time we have developed a special instinct. A stone instinct.” And this time, Cosentino has been its fairy godmother.
A dream come true
“Our customer had a dream and we simply made it come true”, the studio says. “With our skill and technical ability in handling Silestone, Dekton and Sensa, the shop was beautifully decorated, displaying a magnificent range of beautiful stones in its interiors.”
The shop responds to a style that they define as a symbiosis between Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese industrial elements, a kind of Japandi style in which the products play the dominant role, thanks to the effect and subtle invitation that the chosen materials exude.
Finishes dominate the space
The front cladding of the furniture features the new Dekton Morpheus, a matt marbled colour. With a white base, it presents different shades, reflections and flashes of colour in the form of veins. It features a velvet finish that softens its tone, which makes it perfect for enhancing the space.
As for the worktops, they feature Silestone Desert Silver and Sensa Taj Mahal. Desert Silver evokes an icy surface crossed by fine grey veins and offers a very balanced and uniform translucent design. Inspired by the marbled trend, it stands out for its easy combination with any type of material or architectural element. Meanwhile, Sensa Taj Mahal showcases the overwhelming intensity of nature, which conveys great visual richness. Even the columns are clad in white Carrara marble.
