In the idyllic Stockholm archipelago, on the picturesque island of Björkö, Elin has created her own paradise. Here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, she finds peace in her home, which has graced the pages of many publications. “The house is not just a dwelling, but an extension of my creative soul,” she says.
Alemdar is the CEO and designer of Stylein, the fashion company she founded 22 years ago. “Designing clothes that I dream of wearing myself is the core of my business. Moreover, seeing someone dressed in Stylein on the street is a confirmation and reward that constantly inspires me to continue working. But with a hectic life, I also needed a little peaceful oasis to land in, and that’s when we built our summer house”.
Finding the perfect plot of land was a challenge, and the family searched far and wide for several years in pursuit of a very clear ideal: the ability to swim close to the house and enjoy beautiful panoramic views to rest the eyes. In Björkö, north of Norrtälje, the Alemdar family finally found the right place to build their dream summer house, in the middle of a centuries-old pine forest with blueberry bushes in the corners and a beautiful path leading from the house across a meadow to the sea.
An interior full of “beauty, comfort, and timeless elegance”
When it came to designing the house, Alemdar decided to buy a prefabricated house from the Sommarnöjen company. Specifically, the Tidlös Sommar 90 (‘Timeless Summer 90’) model, with a Sjö (‘Lake’) layout and Lugn (‘Calm’) interior. Half of the house consists of a large living room that opens out on three sides, integrating it into the beautiful green surroundings. It shares space with the dining room and kitchen, which is dominated by a large island.
“In my life, there is a constant pursuit of harmony between career, creativity, and family life. In every design, whether it’s clothes or interior décor, there is a part of me – a quest for beauty, comfort, and timeless elegance,” says Alemdar, who designed the interior of the house.
To achieve this, she chose to stain the wood of the structure white to increase the brightness. Natural wood and beige tones are the main features of the rest of the colour scheme, as can be seen in the kitchen, specifically in the worktop, island and front in Silestone Coral Clay with Hybriq technology. The stone is also used in the living room, where the designer liked the colour so much that she used it to create a cubic pedestal.
This is not the first time Alemdar has used Cosentino’s materials; she has also fitted them in the kitchen and bathroom of her townhouse and in her retail space in the centre of Stockholm. The reason is clear: “I prioritise quality and sustainable materials in my décor,” the designer sums up.
