Donna Gilliam, the Principal Designer of Donna Gilliam Interiors, was tasked with rejuvenating an early 2000s home that was acquired by her client. One of the main challenges she faced was modernizing the outdated fireplace design while maintaining a refined aesthetic that harmonized with the transitional ambiance prevalent throughout the open floor plan.
The timing of Dekton Ukiyo’s launch could not have been more fortuitous. Donna’s Cosentino Representative introduced her to the cutting-edge fluted collection and she instantly recognized its suitability as the perfect solution for this project. Ukiyo, in the colorway Rem, is current yet classic, which also reflects the design firm’s aesthetic. Its distinctive fluted texture and marble effect imbue it with a timeless quality, reminiscent of natural environments.
In addition to its beauty, Donna was enticed by the surface's large-format tiles, which allowed her to create a monolithic feature wall that stands out. The fluted surface is featured as a floor-to-ceiling fireplace surround while traditional Dekton Rem was used on the fireplace hearth. Two textures, one seamless application. Dekton fulfilled the designer’s criteria admirably, aligning seamlessly with the vision and requirements for the project.
