The striking façade is given rhythm by the use of a well-defined material palette, including wood, paint and the ultra-compact DKTN stone. “In terms of exterior and interior cladding, DKTN was the natural response to the tectonic requirements of the project. Thanks to its technical features and the fact that it is an ultra-lightweight, large-sized product, we were able to clad large areas of the façade, minimising the number of joints and with a simple gluing installation system”, the AMATAM Studio says.
House Verdizela is a cutting-edge and innovative project. This house is actually a succession of courtyards that create and delimit different living areas, generating a powerful relationship between the interior and the green areas, while protecting the house from the exterior. “We created the different courtyards of the proposal through a play of full and empty, light and shadow”, the AMATAM Studio says.
The advantages of DKTN are so many that it was also the material of choice for the exterior flooring. In this case, the colour chosen was Aeris, a colour inspired by White Limestone and featuring light tones with touches of cream. In addition, this colour was also used for the kitchen and bathrooms.
Inspired by one of the most elegant white marbles on the market, DKTN Rem was the colour chosen for the façade due to its easy installation and maintenance, its thermal insulation capacity and its 25-year warranty. But there is more to it than that: “DKTN gives the façade a high-quality aesthetic differentiation, as it mimics what can be found in nature, but with a uniform pattern and stereotomy reminiscent of natural stone”, the end customer says.
DKTN: high performance and timeless design also for interiors
“The durability and high quality of the materials as well as their sustainability were fundamental to the design of this house. Timelessness concerns not only the design language we are looking for, but also the products used. DKTN is not only a carbon neutral material, but also features extraordinary technical properties, which means high performance, low maintenance and also very attractive aesthetics. In terms of both colour and texture, it fits perfectly with the sensory balance that we sought to achieve in the interior and exterior spaces of House Verdizela”, the AMATAM Studio points out.
The kitchen, for example, features DKTN Zenith, a Nordic white shade that is perfect for fresh and large spaces. The same colour was used for the bathroom walls and floors, this time in combination with DKTN Sasea, a cream-grey shade inspired by Sahel limestone, and DKTN Sirocco, an elegant neutral tone.
Two of the washbasins are even made from DKTN – the Silence and Armony models –, while the third one is made in Silestone. The third washbasin also features the Silence model, but this time the surface chosen was Silestone, the Cosentino hybrid stone made from premium minerals and recycled materials. Specifically, the colour chosen was Zeus Suede, an almost pristine white tone with a velvety finish.
“Regarding the interior spaces, in addition to the advantages mentioned above, it is worth noting that DKTN is a material with antibacterial properties, easy to clean and available in a wide range of colours, which makes it the perfect choice for the kitchen and bathroom spaces in this house”, the AMATAM studio says. “In addition, its availability in large format slabs offers visual advantages, providing a more uniform space, with fewer joints, as well as a very pleasant feel to the touch”.
