The owners of this apartment in an exclusive area of Rio de Janeiro love to cook, and it shows. This passion has led the architect, Alexandre Cardim, to pay particular attention to the design of the kitchen and gourmet area, which is located in a space that connects the inside and the outside in a completely natural way. Both rooms have one thing in common, a material as their main feature, but in different shades and finishes: Cosentino’s ultra-compact Dekton stone.
“The main reason for choosing Dekton for our projects is undoubtedly the quality and durability that this material offers. I always tell our customers about the great durability of this stone and its resistance to abrasion, scratches and stains, and I have no hesitation in recommending it to them,” says the interior designer. “Moreover, the variety of colours and exclusivity allow us to create unique projects,” he continues.
The 400-square-metre apartment features a contemporary style with clean lines, relaxed tones and varied textures that provide a visual interplay where aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand.
Two different colours and textures to last between hobs
The home’s main kitchen is an open-plan space where no expense has been spared in terms of space and work surface. The iconic Nordic white of Dekton Rio Branco works its magic here, creating a minimalist space with an enviably clean look. The kitchen worktop, which extends to the peninsula and acts as a room divider, takes a classic colour like white and modernises it.
Connected to the kitchen by a large sliding door, the second area reveals the homeowners’ passion for cooking. Here you will find a sheltered terrace with a gourmet corner and a large dining table. This is where the hues change and Dekton Kira comes into its own, with an earthy grey base contrasted by lighter grey veins. The soft, matt texture of this ultra-compact stone can be seen on the worktops and fronts in the gourmet area.
“One of the product’s best features is undoubtedly its resistance to knocks, stains and scratches. This resistance makes it easy to use very thin sizes, much to the delight of our customers. What’s more, its durability is excellent and it requires no maintenance,” says Cardim.
Another nod to Dekton’s timelessness in the bathroom
If we think of another room that requires careful selection of scratch-resistant, stain-resistant and easy-to-clean materials, the bathroom comes to mind. In this case, Alexandre Cardim creates a dialogue between the floor and the washbasin, the latter being a large block that acts as a sculptural element thanks to the strong presence of Dekton Laurent.
The texture of this material is inspired by the natural stone Port Laurent, from which it takes its name. Its main attraction, the striking golden veins, enchants interior designers and architects. They make it possible to add warmth to an otherwise cold, dark background. Everything you need to turn your bathroom into a personal temple of pampering.
