The building overlooks Leblon Beach (next to Ipanema Beach), the lake and the Christ the Redeemer monument, which are probably the most iconic landmarks of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). In fact, it is located on the beachfront of Leblon, one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in the city, a place surrounded by services and shops. We are talking about Dom, a modern and exclusive building designed by the Brazilian studio Ouriço Arquitetura with only six residential units, each with several parking spaces.
Each was completely customised for its occupants, as each customer had the freedom to modify the plan layout and finishes to their liking. The six flats are very spacious, ranging from 268 to 538 square metres, and are surrounded by nature thanks to the huge planters that populate the terraces and create their own ecosystem. The building also has a number of common areas, including a swimming pool, lounge and gourmet area.
“Because of its location, its beauty and the aesthetics of its façade, Dom is a priviledged development,” say the designers. In fact, the façade stands out in the landscape thanks to its cladding in Dekton Edora, a warm grey, minimalist and neutral surface that is part of the Natura collection. “It is reminiscent of the sand on the beach,” the studio says.
Ventilated façades with Dekton: maximum sustainability and efficiency
Its ventilated façade design brings comfort and efficiency to the building by optimising ventilation and solar protection throughout the year, thus reducing energy costs and CO2 emissions. In addition to this, Dekton is an excellent thermal and acoustic insulator, which has a positive impact on the energy management of the flats.
Furthermore, its high resistance to UV rays, scratches, frost, thawing and even fire, together with its low water absorption rate, ensure a pristine appearance for many years to come. After all, it is not for nothing that this Cosentino product comes with a 25-year warranty. This surface, which combines low maintenance and a long service life – even graffiti is easy to remove from its surface –, is also environmentally friendly.
In fact, Dekton is a carbon neutral product throughout its life cycle, using the most rigorous, efficient and environmentally friendly processes from the extraction of raw materials. As a result, it generates minimal greenhouse gases, which Cosentino offsets by investing in UN-backed offset projects.
