The much-anticipated first edition of Madrid Inside Design & Art (MIAD) is coming to the capital, with some of the most talked-about names in Spanish interior design as headliners. Among them is the proposal by renowned interior designer Marisa Gallo, who has unveiled an intimate space by Cosentino that she has called: ‘Espacio para dos’ (Space for two), a bathroom meticulously designed, as the title suggests, for two people.
This room is proof that functionality and aesthetics are not mutually exclusive. Above all, it is a profound celebration of individuality and shared connection, a concept that Gallo has masterfully captured through her attention to detail.
Gallo’s design is characterised by its focus on creating a personal space, tailored to the specific needs of each individual, providing a place to unwind and relax. A sanctuary where you can escape from the outside world and take time for yourself, a luxury that is now more precious than ever. The bathroom is divided into distinct areas for the different members of the couple, going beyond mere aesthetics to create a personalised experience.
The Dekton countertops chosen by Gallo provide an elegant and contemporary contrast that perfectly complements the vibrant and exotic look of the animal print walls. Meanwhile, the Silestone shower cubicle from the Le Chic collection, particularly in the Bohemian Flame colour, invites you to immerse yourself in an oasis of relaxation and tranquillity. This material, in a dark matt grey that resembles a mixture of cement and limestone, has also been used in large format on the central island of the dressing room and on the walls, emphasising the uniqueness of these areas.
For the countertops of the washbasins, vanity unit and bathtubs, Gallo selected Dekton’s Rem colour in two finishes: smooth and grooved from the UKIYO collection, both with brown and grey veins with gold accents. This combination of smooth and grooved textures gives these elements a distinctive and individual look. For the flooring, smooth Dekton textures were chosen in the colours Domoos and Aeris, but with a unique twist through special cuts that seamlessly blend the two colours.
For Gallo, working with Cosentino materials has been a ‘smooth and comfortable’ experience, highlighting the wide range of options available and the impeccable service offered to professionals, which includes the convenience of working in Cosentino Centres and City showrooms, as well as technical assistance. These materials were chosen not only for their aesthetic appeal, but also for their technical features, such as the range of thicknesses and ease of installation – crucial factors for a project carried out in a temporary space with tight deadlines. “We chose these materials mainly for their aesthetic distinctiveness, their innovative textures and the possibility of presenting different applications with them,” she explains.
The key challenge for Gallo was to integrate the different textures and ensure that the Cosentino products were effectively displayed and coexisted harmoniously with the other materials. Fortunately, Cosentino’s support in terms of logistics, stock management, production and installation greatly facilitated this process, allowing the project to progress with the necessary agility.
‘Espacio para dos’ by Marisa Gallo embodies a deep understanding of how space can affect our well-being. Through her collaboration with Cosentino, Gallo has once again demonstrated her talent for creating spaces that are not only visually appealing, but also deeply resonant with those who inhabit them – a true masterpiece at the heart of MIAD.
