The perfect setting for a music school is a neat, elegant and, above all, inspiring space. Three principles to keep in mind when transforming the Vienna Music School into a shop in a Singapore mall. “The main requirement was to create a sophisticated design that would stand the test of time and achieving this required a scrupulous methodology in the choice of materials and design elements,” explains I.D Version, the interior design studio overseeing the project.
Architecture and interior design are disciplines that have much in common with music. These include the longevity of each piece and the quest for timelessness, striking the right note so that the creations stand the test of time. “We focus not only on incorporating solutions based on aesthetics, but also on ensuring long-term durability, functionality and lasting appeal to meet the high demands of our customers,” they explain.
A music school that is striking inside and out
The shop’s façade is clad entirely in Dekton Opera, inspired by the elegant Italian marble of Carrara, and given a soft touch with the new Dekton Velvet Texture finish. The same material is used inside to create a counter with soft contours that promote harmony. “Cosentino materials have proved to be an invaluable asset to our project, providing numerous benefits and significantly enhancing our design vision.”
Is it possible to attract attention in a graceful and unobtrusive way? The answer comes from this project in Singapore, which appeals to its students with a sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing melody. “Our primary consideration was to ensure the use of durable materials that require minimal maintenance and perfectly embody the client’s desire for a contemporary, simple and sleek environment. Dekton by Cosentino turned out to be the ideal choice, meeting all these criteria and offering a comprehensive solution to our project requirements,” they assure us.
If music were a physical material, it would resemble something like marble
“The marble-like appearance of Cosentino materials was a key element in creating a harmonious and visually stunning environment. Its perfect blend with wood finishes and gold tones culminates in a classic combination that enhances the overall visual appeal of the space,” say the project managers.
No other colour could be more appropriate for such a project. And we say this not because of the name Opera, which is a wonderful coincidence, but because of the musicality of its simple veins. Light grey in hue, they crisscross the creamy white background, adding depth and character, while its classic finish offers a sensationally soft and velvety feel.
