Dekton boasts unmatched properties when it comes to durability and aesthetics, but its variety of thicknesses and large format are also unique characteristics that make the material uniquely suited for facade applications. Today, we’re visiting the iconic Sheraton hotel in the city of Laval, located in Quebec.

For this project, DMA Architectes were tasked with recladding the facade over the original brick, which presented many challenges, especially in regards to the maximum weight the structure could hold.

When DMA Architectes learned of Dekton and its availability in a lightweight 4 millimeter thickness, they knew it was the right solution for the facade. Cosentino and DMA Architects worked with the Stekar building envelope system to create a pressure equalized facade using Dekton in the colour Bromo.

Dekton Bromo is a dark gray inspired by metamorphic rocks such as slate. Its subtle, faded, and masterfully-crafted texture and natural aesthetic is perfect for an elegant and imposing look. The project was cut-to-size by a local fabricator, which allowed the team to meet the tight timeline.

Cosentino and the facade company offered timely solutions and top-of-the-line services to ensure the facade not only looked beautiful, but was functional, efficient, and maintenance-free.
