Shigeru Kubota is the visionary Japanese designer at the head of Degins JP. He recently unveiled his latest creation, a very unique table that is halfway between art and functionality. Called ‘Hexagon’, the table is an expression of harmony, enduring beauty and material innovation. For its design, Kubota chose Silestone by Cosentino as the main material. Specifically, he turned to the Le Chic collection, a choice that reflects the designer’s refined aesthetic and commitment to durability and sustainable design.

Renowned for its hybrid composition of minerals and recycled materials, Silestone stands out for its high resistance to stains and scratches thanks to the Hybriq+ technology and its ability to add colour and texture to any space. In particular, the Le Chic collection is an ode to timeless classics, with designs inspired by natural stone that evoke the charm of the most iconic Parisian and Victorian spaces.

A stable, strong and well-balanced table

The ‘Hexagon’ table explores shape and texture, and every single design choice reflects Kubota’s deep respect for nature and tradition. “The hexagon is a stable, strong and well-balanced shape,” says Kubota, emphasising its presence in nature and its importance in Japanese culture, particularly in the traditional ‘kikkou’ pattern, a symbol of enduring harmony and beauty. The choice of this shape was no coincidence: it aims to connect contemporary design with ancestral tradition, creating pieces that are both a tribute to tradition and a vision of the future of design.

The Le Chic collection offers a range of colours and textures that beautifully complement Kubota’s vision. From the refined veining and metallic touches of Eclectic Pearl to the bohemian Parisian spirit of Bohemian Flame, each colour was chosen to enhance the beauty and complexity of the hexagonal design.

With ‘Hexagon’, Kubota aims to express a sense of lightness and three-dimensionality, which is evident in the innovative design of the legs, which are strategically positioned at three points and bend in contact to the floor as an expression of beauty and strength.
