Neutral earth tones, sweeping curves, natural materials that create a warm and inviting atmosphere, and functional solutions that make everyday life easier – these are the defining features of Woolooware Residence, a designer home in New South Wales, Australia, whose decorative touch is the work of Loretta Wilson of LOWI Interiors.

Wilson drew inspiration for this creation from homes that ‘blur the line between traditional and modern’, blending classic and contemporary selections to infuse the interiors with their shapes and textures. “Featuring a neutral backdrop thoughtfully layered with detailed wainscoting, warm timbers, mixed metals and patterned textiles, all combining successfully to embody the essence of the new traditional,” explains the studio.

The New Traditional is, precisely, the name Wilson has given to this style of refurbishment, in which Dekton products are widely used. At a nearby Cosentino City showroom, homeowners were able to choose their favourite colours, including Dekton Liquid Shell, Dekton Rem, Sensa Taj Mahal and Dekton Helena.

Dekton: the sophisticated, hard-wearing stone perfect for the ‘new traditional’ look

The first, Dekton Liquid Shell, is a tribute to sobriety and softness, a recall of the life hidden in the waves of the sea, inspired by the pearlescent look of seashells. This off-white shade, with creamy tones that vary in surface gloss according to the colours that make up the pattern, is used for the worktop and front of the outdoor kitchen. It is a dream space, equipped with a barbecue and a fireplace, designed to gather and share at any time of the year.

Meanwhile, Dekton Rem has been chosen for the worktop and island of the indoor kitchen, as well as for the front and charming arched shelf. “The repeated arches in the kitchen and dining room are the most striking feature of the project, and each one serves a different purpose,” explains Wilson, who also points to the dining room bench, the cooking area in the kitchen and the steel window overlooking the pool and garden as notable details.

Dekton Rem is a subtly cracked stone that, like all Dekton surfaces, is resistant to scratches, abrasion, acids and stains. All this makes it both a sophisticated and extremely low-maintenance solution for a space as exposed to dirt and high temperatures as the kitchen.

Cosentino products for fireplaces and bathrooms as well

When it comes to high temperatures, there is another Cosentino material that can easily withstand them. It is Sensa, the natural stone with exclusive stain protection used for the fireplace surround. The chosen colour, Taj Mahal, captures the overwhelming intensity of nature and provides visual richness.

Finally, Dekton Helena takes centre stage in the en-suite bathroom. This colour strikes a balance between white and grey tones, enriched with delicate veins that mimic the depth of the natural onyx stone, its source of inspiration, bringing opulence and elegance to the space.

“The palette for this project called for very warm tones and unique patterns, so the Cosentino materials were a perfect fit,” Wilson confirms. “But in addition to the warm colours, these products offer form and function by providing robust surfaces for everyday family life,” the designer concludes.
