The interior designer Adriana Nicolau gives her projects an eclectic, refined and playful style, full of details, art, craftsmanship and fine materials. It was in this spirit that she renovated the home of Spanish actress Marta Hazas, designing several outdoor tables in Dekton’s elegant black and white Lunar and Laos colours.
Lunar is a reinterpretation of the traditional cement aesthetic with an industrial twist. Its subtle texture against an off-white background makes it very trendy and easy to mix and match. Laos, on the other hand, with its dark tones and worn structure, is also in the industrial design colour range, but with a more innovative and modern look. Its grey veining and warm tones give it great appeal, which, together with its soft matt finish, makes it the ideal choice for decorating contemporary environments.
The four octagonal tables (including a large dining table, a small table and two coffee tables) blend the two colours in a variety of visually striking and graphic combinations. They can thus be used individually or grouped together to form an attractive and appealing ensemble.
The legs are also designed to form geometric shapes with right and acute angles, giving the pieces greater originality. There is no doubt that each table reflects the influence of great interior designers who inspire Nicolau, including the likes of Kelly Wearstler and India Madhavi.
An original and functional collection of tables
These tables were designed for Marta Hazas and launched exclusively by Nicolau’s studio under the name Meshazas. They were presented at Cosentino City Madrid during an event that brought together the actress and furniture designer with around a hundred personalities from the world of design. This is the second collaboration between Nicolau and Cosentino, following their work on the Entrelazos room at Casa Decor 2017. In this private dining room, Silestone Marquina and Statuario colours from the Eternal series were used for the legs of the main table, along with round tops in Dekton Kelya.
Making tables in Dekton is proving to be an ideal option for designers, thanks to the infinite range of colours available, the large size of the slabs that give pieces visual continuity, and the different thicknesses that Cosentino offers (from 4 to 30 millimetres). End-users also benefit from this choice, as Dekton is a highly durable stone, offering resistance to scratching, heat, abrasion and even fire. It also allows you to serve and even cut directly on the surface without having to worry about using boards.
Dekton also resists stains because it has almost no porosity. This means that even the most acidic liquids will not penetrate it, so it will always remain unaltered (just clean with a damp cloth). What’s more, you don’t have to worry about the knocks of everyday use, because Cosentino stone can withstand them all without being affected.
