The first edition of MIAD is set to mark a milestone in the world of design. Bringing together art, interior design, architecture and design, and featuring top international brands, the event will take place at Madrid’s iconic Las Ventas bullring from 5th to 17th March.
During the Madrid Inside Art & Design fair, this historic-artistic monument, an icon of European architecture, will host a variety of spaces featuring the innovative proposals of the best professionals in the sector.
‘To Be’, a modern, handcrafted space for comfortable living
Among the different spaces is the ‘To Be’ design by Sara Folch, created for the German mechanism manufacturer Jung. According to the renowned interior designer, it is “a space to enjoy music, art, reading and rest, as well as our pets.” The design is also “the perfect example of the integration of technology, craftsmanship, comfort and multifunctionality in the home.”
In this sense, it may seem at first glance that craftsmanship and technology are difficult to combine. However, with exquisite elegance, Folch has designed a multifunctional home that is comfortable for the whole family and combines craftsmanship with home automation. “It is this connection that we want to highlight as a future-present. We have to give value to the craftsmen who have always worked with their hands, but at the same time take advantage of the latest technologies, still wrapped in velvet. The everyday need for aesthetics is also part of the inspiration that brings the elegance of design to every corner of our lives,” she says.
Dekton, the perfect ultra-compact surface for Folch’s space
Dekton is a material that combines tradition and innovation, so it makes perfect sense that it should be part of Folch’s work: this ultra-compact surface is a sophisticated blend of more than 20 minerals, whose particles have been sintered and bonded together thanks to the exclusive TSP technology. Thanks to this carbon neutral process, Dekton has extraordinary properties: it does not scratch or stain, resists impacts, high and low temperatures, retains its colour, is easy to clean…
“We’ve used Dekton because of the quality of the product and the flexibility it gives us in using the material in our unique designs. Its great versatility also allows us to combine functionality with the aesthetics we seek in all our design projects,” says Folch.
Specifically, the interior designer chose Dekton Nacre – a neutral and subtle shade with cream touches that ranges from fine microcement to lime plastering – to create a pedestal and some sculptural pieces, halfway between design and technology.
“Cosentino materials allow us to create anything we can imagine. In addition, its professional team helps us every day to make our designs shine,” concludes Folch.
