The recent renovation of Spanish model Javier de Miguel’s home exemplifies the growing popularity of warm minimalism for its transformative effect on spaces. The project, carried out by the Vílchez Uriarte studio, pays homage to elegant simplicity and the intelligent use of materials.

Located in a 1940s building, Javier de Miguel’s apartment has been meticulously designed to maximise open spaces, creating the ideal setting for socialising with friends and making the most of every square metre. As Javier explains, “the aim was to create very large communal areas where you can socialise and where you spend most of your time”. This philosophy permeates every corner of the dwelling, where a serene foundation of neutral tones is enhanced by splashes of colour introduced through carefully selected furniture, artwork and decorative elements.

A striking feature of the renovation is the prominent use of Cosentino’s ultra-compact Dekton stone – an essential choice, according to Javier. “Dekton’s prominence in the apartment is total,” he says. The use of Dekton Laurent to separate the kitchen and dining area from the living room, and the Dekton Rem kitchen island, are clear examples of this choice. “You can cut on it, it withstands heat and it makes everything much easier for me,” comments Javier, highlighting the functionality and aesthetics of the material.

Dekton is the secret behind the Vílchez Uriarte studio’s ability to achieve the best results

The Vílchez Uriarte studio, founded by architect Cristina Vílchez and interior designer Mireia Uriarte, is at the forefront of this sophisticated transformation. According to the studio, the decision to use Dekton was based on its versatility and ability to clad large areas without the need for joints or connections. “It is a versatile material thanks to its wide range of colours, so it can fit perfectly into any space,” explains the studio.

Working with Cosentino has been a rewarding experience, according to the studio. The collaboration played a pivotal role in the selection of materials and in achieving the envisioned end result. “It is always a pleasure; they help us with everything we need and with the choice of materials,” says Vílchez Uriarte.

Javier de Miguel was unstinting in his praise, thanking Cosentino for its role in giving shape and beauty to his new haven: “A heartfelt thank you to Cosentino for helping me create my home”.

Javier de Miguel’s home is a compelling example of how the fusion of warm minimalism, coupled with the careful selection of materials and colours, can craft spaces that seamlessly combine functionality with captivating aesthetics. Cosentino’s Dekton stone stands out as a key element in this transformation, demonstrating both its versatility and aesthetic appeal.
