The Kitchen project

Here is a collaboration between HTH, Smeg and Cosentino for a summer residence Andrea has created and realized. Andrea together with kitchen Designer Anders Blomqvist at HTH Odenplan in Stockholm.

“The kitchen is part of an open floor plan in a room that is not so huge. To get the feeling that a space is bigger than it is, I usually try to keep the material choices equal. Here I wanted a wooden feel in both kitchen and furniture; such as dining tables, coffee tables, side tables and otherwise warm and bright on the floor and walls. Wood is a lovely material and feels cozy to have around. Mixing materials then with, for example, a stainless steel oven creates a nice contrast.”

Upcoming interior design trends in the kitchen

“I would say that there are two trends right now, partly the wood trend and here it is both light and dark woods that apply but then also more color in the kitchen. Everything from pink cabinets to dark blue or green. Very fun! But for this design and home the warm feeling and bright look was created by a mix of light wood and white worktops.”

Andrea has through the years visited our Cosentino's warehouse and City Showroom as well as our exhibitions at Trade Fairs. She has incorporated Silestone in several of her own projects so that the choice fell on Silestone this time was no coincidence. The selected color is the Light and crisp tones of faded white and grey shades, Silestone Nolita.

A common interior design mistake many people make in the kitchen

“That you have too many material choices so that the feeling becomes messy. Then that you do not think about how you will work in the kitchen. Is there enough workspace? Is the sink and dishwasher positioned correctly? Do I have the features of the appliances that I need?”

Andrea chose a Galileo OmniManager that is both a microwave and a steam oven from Smeg and describes it as follows ”it is so intuitive. I'm not a star in the kitchen (my husband is the master chef) so I like it when you get help to cook good food.”
