Washbasin: Simplicity | Shower tray: Rainfloor

The project focuses on the search for balance and harmony within the complexity and diversity of the materials chosen, which at first sight may seem disparate. The inherent beauty and challenge of a collage is to achieve an ‘elusive balance’. When this is achieved, the whole magically becomes more than the sum of its parts. An idea that surrounds and defines the spectacular bathroom designed by Seah.

‘The ideal bathroom is a sanctuary for holistic wellness, where body and mind are cleansed and nourished. ‘Away from the hustle and bustle and distractions of the world around us, it offers a moment to immerse ourselves in healing sounds, aromas and textures,’ says designer Colin Seah, founder of Singapore-based studio Ministry of Design (MOD). It is with this philosophy that he has created The Collage, a bathroom that is part of The Bathelier, the C·Bath ideas lab, Cosentino’s comprehensive proposal for bathrooms.

A seeming chaos, very well thought out with Dekton and Silestone

Chaos and order are the two cornerstones of Seah’s project. A bathroom space that explores the diversity of nature and the mix of materials, generating a collage that integrates the elements of the shower tray, in combination with the cladding, and the washbasin.

The Simplicity washbasin fits into a large volume, featuring a countertop that takes advantage of the large dimensions of Silestone materials to build an extra-long surface to adapt to the space. A sculptural piece that stands out in a space clad in Silestone Ethereal Noctis, with its elegant pattern of short and deep veins.

Another highlight is the shower area, which differs only in terms of the floor and wall cladding. For this feature, Colin Seah turned to the powerful Dekton Laurent, a colour inspired by the natural stone Port Laurent. Its texture creates a play of shades with gold and warm veins against a cool background of dark tones.

Both the walls and the floor show the essence of ‘collage’, with a geometric composition using a whole range of colours: Dekton Laurent, Dekton Soke, Silestone Et Serena and Silestone Ethereal Noctis. In short, what appears to be a random design achieves a perfect harmony that gives character to the room.
