When the architecture team at Maps Design and interior design studio Salene Teng approached the project for this house on Fudu Park, Tagore District 26, Yio Chu Kang (Singapore), they did so with a different colour scheme in mind. However, the inability to find the desired colours on the local market led them to adapt their design, resulting in a change of colour scheme. This challenge highlighted the importance of having accessible and available materials for the perfect execution of any job. And Cosentino made it possible.
Challenging environmental factors
The decision to use Cosentino materials was based on their ability to withstand challenging environmental factors. “We assessed the durability of the materials to ensure they could withstand a variety of external conditions. In addition, the range of colours offered by Cosentino perfectly matched the intended design, making them the ideal choice for the project,” say the studios.
The durability of Cosentino materials proved to be a valuable asset, promising a long service life for the exterior of the house, in addition to its 25-year warranty. “These characteristics were in line with our goal of creating long-lasting beauty that required minimal maintenance.”
Three Dekton colours
In terms of application, it was decided to adhere the Cosentino materials directly to the different surfaces. This application approach not only ensured precision, but also highlighted the versatility of the materials to adapt to different fixing techniques.
But Dekton’s aesthetics also played a key role in enhancing the overall project. In this sense, three different finishes were used, each of which had a number of features that made it ideal. Dekton Kreta was used for the wall built as a barrier. Inspired by traditional cement floors, but evoking a sense of serenity, Kreta features a homogeneous and restrained design, although it includes darker or lighter areas depending on the density of the pattern. In addition, its matt texture and grey shade match all types of materials, making it perfect for any application.
The façades feature Dekton Edora and Dekton Nacre. Edora is a warm grey suitable for both classic and avant-garde styles. This surface creates minimalist and neutral environments that make it easy to play with other colours. Meanwhile, Nacre is a cream colour that ranges from fine microcement to lime plastering, with subtle details and a degraded texture that give it a high sensory value.
“Working with Cosentino on this project has been a positive experience. We really appreciated the support of the whole team. This positive collaboration probably contributed to the overall project success,” the studios say finally.
