Cosentino’s innovative ultra-compact surface for the world of architecture and design, Dekton®, is delighted to have been chosen once again as the official worktop partner for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018, reaffirming its connection to international gastronomy.  In addition, Dekton® is sponsoring the Sustainable Restaurant Award 2018, reflecting the Spanish multinational’s commitment to sustainable design.

Renowned as the ‘Oscars of cooking’, the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 will be hosted for the first time in Spain, with the city of Bilbao chosen as the epicentre of this prestigious celebration.  The list of winners will be revealed on Tuesday 19 June at a ceremony that will be held at Bilbao’s Palacio Euskalduna.  2018 marks the eighth consecutive year in which Cosentino and its brands have actively participated in this unique event, bringing together the biggest names in the culinary industry from around the world.

This year, Dekton® sponsors the Sustainable Restaurant Award 2018, and Santiago Alfonso, Cosentino vice-president of communications and marketing, will have the honour of awarding the coveted statuette to the winner.  As a sponsor, Cosentino will have a booth located in the Palacio itself, where a Dekton® worktop in the colour Orix, part of the brand’s popular Industrial Collection, will perfectly complement the location’s ‘fire’ theme, combining urban-inspired aesthetics with robust practicality.  The Spanish brand, Cinco Jotas, will occupy a space next to the Cosentino booth, where visitors can sample delicious Iberian ham and admire a striking Dekton® worktop in the colour Domoos.

Santiago Alfonso, Cosentino vice-president of communications and marketing, says: «As a Spanish company whose work has created particularly strong ties with the gastronomy and restaurant sectors, at Cosentino we are proud that this important event is being held in our country, and particularly in the city of Bilbao, with its rich gastronomy.»  Bilbao is the provincial capital of Vizcaya, the region home to four of the restaurants currently ranked among the top forty of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017 list: Asador Etxebarri (#6), Mugaritz (#9), Arzak (#30) and Azurmendi (#38).
