Achieving a minimalist yet cosy interior is no easy task and requires a skilled hand. And they seem to have found the key in this two-storey house in Lisbon. Inside, white is the dominant colour, accentuated by touches and details of a material with which it has a strong affinity: wood.
The floors and doors, together with the original wood panelling for the walls, interact with this neutral base in the most social area of the house, achieving a perfect harmony mainly to the random shapes formed by the golden veins of DKTN Entzo. Of course, the fireplace also contributes to the feeling of warmth.
The ultra-compact DKTN stone is a must-have for creative spirits
“We chose DKTN not only because we fell in love with the designs it could offer, but also because of its strength and durability. In the case of the staircase in the hall, the choice was mainly due to its resistance to scratches and knocks,” explain the homeowners.
Thanks to its versatility, this ultra-compact stone has been used creatively in various parts of the house. It serves as an excellent frame for the TV set, which is cleverly integrated into the daytime living area, and welcomes us into an elegant and sober hall through the floors and stairs that lead to the upper level. “As the desired colours were white, light brown and gold, we opted for DKTN Entzo,” they point out.
The veining continues into the kitchen, subtly changing to suit personal style
When you enter the kitchen, it looks different aesthetically, but the essence remains. “As the units would be dark grey (anthracite), we were looking for a stone that would provide contrast and light, avoiding the more traditional – Calacatta marble – and so we chose DKTN Liquid Sky,” they explain.
Liquid Sky is a truly swirling, marbled pattern that creates random veins in shades of grey against a white base. The worktop surface was chosen primarily for its aesthetics, but also for a number of practical reasons: “It was mainly chosen for its ability to withstand high temperatures without burning and/or cracking, which allows hot pans and other items to be placed on it; it also does not scratch or stain easily, which allows vegetables and other food to be cut directly on it; and it is easy to clean,” state the homeowners.
