‘A house for living in the landscape, a large living space, a house that is a territory, an organism to be inhabited’ is how the architects from the studio of José Jiliberto describe this villa in the Torrox Park area of Málaga (Spain). Its sinuous curves cut across the horizon, blending in perfectly with the Mediterranean landscape and paying homage to the light of the Costa del Sol. The architectural design is also fully adapted to the unevenness of the site, with the main house and an annex forming a single unit. The focal point is a large horizontal hall that articulates the spaces and adapts to the topography.
The architects opted for Cosentino’s ultra-compact stone to create an aesthetically coherent design with top technical qualities. Specifically, Dekton can be found in all its splendour as cladding for all façades and floors, both inside and outside houses. ‘We chose Dekton for its exclusivity and quality. In addition to the technical properties of the material, its colour and texture,’ says architect José Luis Jiliberto Herrera.
Strength and durability, the star qualities of Dekton
‘It was clear to the customer from the outset that this was the material they wanted,’ stresses the architect. Its ease of cleaning and maintenance, as well as its resistance to stains, scratches, knocks and sudden changes in temperature, make Dekton a material that can withstand wear and tear, a factor that was highly valued by the design team.
These properties make it suitable for use on this façade, which is exposed to strong sunlight and corrosion due to its proximity to the sea, as well as on the floors of residential buildings. Furthermore, it comes with a 25-year warranty, which means that it will stay looking good for many years to come.
The ease of installation and the support provided by the Cosentino team was also appreciated by the architect. ‘They facilitated our work and provided us with the material on site,’ he points out.
The colour of choice for the façade, which was installed using an adhesive system, was Dekton Aeris. This is a light shade with cream details inspired by white limestone, which blends in perfectly with the landscape and its surroundings.
A solid and aesthetically pleasing floor in Dekton
The minimalist concept of this colour, from Cosentino’s Industrial range, is inspired by silver metal. Its delicate appearance, which depicts the beginning of an oxidation process, brings a contemporary character to all rooms: kitchen, dining room, living room, bedrooms and bathrooms.
All the interiors of the houses have plenty of natural light, an element that takes centre stage in the rooms with sea views. Dekton Nilium, which enhances light and adds texture, is used to clad all the floors, both inside and out.
Outside, Dekton Nilium was also used to create a relaxed atmosphere with character. In combination with this colour, the perimeter of the pool was framed with Dekton Laos, a dark shade with a worn structure that enhances the industrial and modern look. Its soft matt finish and warm grey veining is the perfect complement to highlight the element of water in this outdoor area of the villa.
