Innovation and entrepreneurship at Piana degli Albanesi, a small village renowned for the production of typical Sicilian cannoli, where the main Arbëreshë community (the Albanians of Italy) of Sicily, resides, founded in 1488 by a group of Albanian exiles fleeing for religious reasons from Albania, due to the invasion of the Ottoman Empire. In this mountain village a few kilometers from the Sicilian capital, Palermo, the community that lives there today has preserved its cultural roots and in particular its spoken language.

In this context lies Ferrara Stone, a cooperative company founded in 2009 from the transformation of the family business established in 1995, which initially dealt with the marketing of ceramics and plumbing and subsequently started the transformation of composite material.

In just a few years, the transformation activity became the company's core business, thus the Ferrara Stone Società Cooperativa was born. The choice has proven successful over the years, in fact today the company is one of the main buyers of Cosentino in Italy.

The company's new offices were inaugurated in 2023, an expansion and strengthening in line with constant commitment and attention towards technological innovation; a 150 kW photovoltaic system has been created which allows the company to be 60% self-sufficient in terms of energy and at a technological level it has inserted new machinery for production.

Both for the interior and exterior of its new headquarters, Ferrara Stone has chosen Cosentino materials. Starting from the outside, the façade in Dekton Nilium and Bromo immediately stands out, as do the cladding of the side facades in Dekton Orix and the flooring in Bromo. Furthermore, Dekton Orix was used to cover a pillar where the company logo has been placed.

Inside, starting from the reception, then continuing with the open spaces, the meeting room and up to the bathrooms Dekton is used in a variety of applications.

Upon entering, the reception seems to emerge from a block of stone: the counter is wrapped both in the lower part and in the upper part (which descends from the ceiling) in Dekton Khalo, a Patagonian effect with warm and enveloping colours.

Continuing we find a series of wall wardrobes, all covered in 8 mm Dekton Eter and Dekton Rem, as well as the office doors covered in Dekton Eter.

To offer more privacy, the open space is divided by the corridor leading to a meeting room where the large Dekton Liquid Sky table is the protagonist, with a series of large vases covered in Dekton Khalo.

Also note that the wall clock in the open space is all made in Dekton Soke.

In the bathrooms, where Silestone also finds space, the Arcilla Red wall forms the backdrop to the two free standing monobloc washbasins entirely covered in Dekton Laurent.

The architect Giusy Scalia, who personally took care of the construction of the new offices, chose Cosentino materials and in particular Dekton for its versatility and the possibility of using it practically anywhere, both horizontally and vertically: from the façade of the building up to the bathrooms, playing with colors and their combinations.

From solid colors or with a subtle grain, used to cover doors, built-in wardrobes and external flooring, to more extroverted colors full of personality such as Dekton Khalo, Dekton Laurent and Dekton Liquid Sky. For the main facade, however, he wanted to combine Dekton Nilium with its white and gray shades which frames the entrance to the building with Dekton Bromo with its dark gray shade.
