Organic, sensory and welcoming. This is the home designed by Casa Sobrado in the state of Santa Catarina (Brazil), a bright, open space dominated by organic textures.
The aim of this superimposition of tactile patterns and sensual forms is to create a pleasant sense of comfort for its inhabitants, as if they were in the midst of nature. A palette of neutrals and greens interwines with wood, stone and wool, raw materials that invite us to touch.
A foolproof combination of beauty and functionality
Casa Sobrado has taken into account not only beauty, but also ease of use, which in the long run has a decisive influence on comfort. “From the specification of the materials to the design of the joinery, every detail was carefully considered to ensure the durability, comfort and well-being of the inhabitants. All surfaces are durable and easy to maintain, and each material is a sensory invitation that stimulates the senses, creating a sense of deep synaesthesia between the elements and the human being,” the studio says.
All these reasons made Dekton an obvious candidate to be part of the house’s range of materials. This highly heat-resistant ultra-compact surface, which does not scratch and resists acids and impacts, has all the properties the designers were looking for. “We chose it for its strength, quality and ease of maintenance,” the studio says.
Fireplace, churrascaria and kitchen, three demanding areas perfectly solved thanks to Dekton
The Dekton Nilium slabs used to clad the modern fireplace blend in perfectly with the sideboard in the same stone. This elegant space under the TV was easy to create thanks to the endless design possibilities offered by the custom cutting of Dekton’s large format slabs.
Because it is fireproof, this colour was also used for the churrascaria – a typical Brazilian barbecue, which in this project is integrated into the kitchen wall –, and in the kitchen and gourmet area of the house. Here it offers maximum flexibility, allowing you to place hot dishes straight from the oven or to cut on the surface without the need for a chopping board. “The responsible choice of materials, suitable for use in gourmet kitchens, adds strength, durability and comfort to the family’s everyday life,” says the studio.
Inspired by silver metal, Dekton Nilium offers a subtle combination of white and grey shades, while the delicate appearance of its warm colours represents the beginning of the oxidation process of a material, enhancing its organic quality and making it the perfect complement to this beautiful interior, dominated by natural shapes and patterns.
