For Marshall Low from Apex Studios, the project presented a real challenge in terms of harmonising the different materials that he wanted to use to make it a reality. “This project presented the challenge of combining two different elements, lime and dark wood, into a cohesive interior design concept. The challenge was to create something that effectively captured the essence of this fusion while remaining concise and attractive. It was also important to ensure that there was a sense of harmony and balance between the contrasting elements,” he explains.

Choosing the right partner for this sensory journey was therefore paramount, but the studio knew that ‘someone’ had to be Cosentino. “By prioritising quality craftsmanship and choosing durable materials such as those offered by Cosentino, we ensured the longevity and enduring beauty of our design. Our decision was driven by a commitment to create spaces that were not only visually stunning, but also functional and durable, exceeding expectations.”

The search for optimum cohesion

In this quest for cohesion between the whole project and its individual elements, Apex Studios decided to use Dekton Danae in the two most used areas of the house: the kitchen and the bathroom. In the former, it adorns the worktops and splashback, while in the latter, it adorns the vanity unit and the back of the washbasin.

Reminiscent of moving sand in the desert, Dekton Danae captures varying shades of beige along its surface, embodying the essence of movement. With this definition, it perfectly complements the dark wood that dominates the kitchen and the lime that accentuates the vertical walls.

Versatile spaces, but also serene

The bathroom is an oasis of calm, exuding a sense of serenity created by the neutral tones of the furniture and walls. Here, Dekton enhances this tranquillity with a spacious mirrored cabinet that, combined with the natural light streaming in, transforms the area into a personal sanctuary of peace.

“Cosentino materials were key to our project, offering a high quality option. Their versatility allowed us to seamlessly integrate contrasting elements, ensuring durability and longevity. With its innovative solutions, Cosentino has sparked creativity and increased the sophistication of our interiors,” concludes the studio.

Casa Decor, the most eagerly awaited interior design event of the year held in Madrid for professionals and amateurs alike, is back. And, as every year, the talent of interior designer Erico Navazo is not to be missed. On this occasion, the designer presents the ‘Metallic Harmony’ space, a bathroom proposal created in collaboration with the Strohm Teka brand, which redefines elegance and resistance to the passage of time through the masterful integration of elements from different eras.

Renowned for his ability to create spaces that tell stories, Navazo has designed a bathroom that captures the essence of a 1928 palace, giving it a natural, contemporary and avant-garde spirit. This space goes beyond the usual functional area to become a sanctuary that invites reflection and appreciation of detail. According to Navazo, it is “a place that resists the passage of time while maintaining its elegance. To reinforce this concept, beautiful metallic taps were used, complemented by textures, colours and materials within a balanced and unique design. An eclectic space that aims to be timeless.”

To create this eclectic and timeless space, Navazo also used two Cosentino materials. On the one hand, he chose Silestone Parisien Bleu for the bathtub and the washbasin countertop. On the other, he used Sensa Platino on a quartzite table specially made for the project. These surfaces enhance the space thanks to their unique aesthetics and offer advanced technology with easy maintenance and high resistance, which are key features for Navazo, who always looks for materials “capable of generating emotions, with a beautiful design and durability.”

Silestone and Sensa, two materials that helped achieve the perfect result

According to Navazo, the process of selecting these materials was the result of an exhaustive search to find those that “best suited what we had in mind”. The decision was based on a combination of factors including the technical properties, colour, texture and design of the slab, which together captured the vision of the project.

In addition, Navazo highlights the ease of use of Cosentino materials, stating that their “high resistance and ease of handling” facilitated the execution of the design, which was a decisive advantage given the high pressure of execution and assembly times typical of events such as Casa Decor.

The challenge of meeting these tight deadlines was partly mitigated by the logistical support of Cosentino, which delivered the materials “with alacrity”, allowing Navazo and his team to focus on carrying out a perfect assembly and remaining faithful to the original concept. His proposal for this year’s edition will also remain in the memory of all those attending Casa Decor.

Living in the lap of luxury in every sense of the word is what interior design studio Ippo Asia proposes at its Sovereign Suites, located at 28 Boulevard in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The suites, which measure almost 42 square metres, are designed for holidays, short or long stays, and all exude an understated elegance but with great attention to detail.

Described by the studio as a space “where elegant and contemporary design meets timelessness. The harmonious blend of deep blacks and rich earth tones creates a sophisticated and distinctive ambience”. Designed to captivate, the suites feature striking black panels juxtaposed with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, enhancing the spaciousness and opulence of the room. “Contemporary glass doors and refined lighting solutions cast a warm glow, while sumptuous wooden floors ground this sanctuary of modern living,” explains the studio.

The main challenge: creating a bold yet welcoming space

One of the main challenges of this project was to create a space that was bold yet warm and welcoming. To achieve this effect, they chose Cosentino, and Silestone in particular. “Silestone was the material of choice because we wanted a space that was not only elegant but also durable. And we know that it is remarkably resistant to stains and scratches and requires minimal maintenance. We were also looking for a worktop material that was stylish, and Silestone offers this with its 12 mm slabs”.

To create a slightly masculine and sober atmosphere, Cosentino supplied Silestone Iconic Black, “a black without white nuances that we could not find on the local market”. It was used for the kitchen worktop, the island and the bathroom, and the result was spectacular, with the perfect blend of exquisite and exclusive finishes, yet with the necessary warmth to embrace visitors and make them feel at home.

Silestone Iconic Black is a deep black that radiates elegance and distinction in any application. Perfect for simplicity, it brings pure black brilliance. Just what Ippo Asia was looking for.

Seville has a unique colour and the Cavalta Boutique Hotel embodies them all. Estudio Chico Muñoz undertook the complete refurbishment of a residential building in a distinctly regionalist style in the heart of Seville’s Triana district. It was quite a challenge, as the studio admits: “Apart from the façade, which dates back to 1929, the entire building was reconstructed from scratch, including the excavation of the basement”. The result is enchanting – an accommodation that smells of orange blossom and is flavoured with rebujito, exuding all the charm and essence of Seville, but with a contemporary design that does not compromise on comfort or trends.

Throughout this far from easy journey, Estudio Chico Muñoz relied on Cosentino, using Dekton and some of its finishes. “Working with Cosentino was the perfect combination of classic and modern. This is the essence of Cavalta, a building in which you can see the harmonious coexistence of materials such as wood or original vaulted ceilings with a greyish hue veined with modern, ultra-compact stone”. It’s pure art.

Meticulous decoration and culinary venues

The hotel boasts 12 meticulously decorated rooms and a range of culinary venues for a unique dining experience, including an exclusive restaurant, cocktail bar and rooftop Garden Club with outdoor swimming pool. Dekton finishes can be found in virtually every room, “because of its groundbreaking aesthetics, as well as its versatility and durability. The different thicknesses make it easy to adapt the material to any space, playing with the same colour palette. The durability and ease of cleaning, thanks to its almost zero porosity, were paramount for applications in high-traffic areas,” the studio asserts.

For this reason, Dekton Laos was used for all of the cladding in the bathroom areas. The vertical walls were clad in 4 mm, while the floor and shower tray were clad in 8 mm. The washbasins, in the same colour, are of the Reflection model, with towel rails on the skirt.

Meanwhile, Dekton Sasea in 12 mm thickness is used on the terrace, providing an ideal access flooring solution to conceal the many installations typical of a building dedicated to this purpose. The same material is used to clad the swimming pool, ensuring continuity in the space, where Dekton gives off a warm light.

In the Balbuena y Huertas restaurant, Dekton Laurent is featured on the main bar and the round coffee tables, offering a bold colour that contrasts with the original hydraulic flooring. Here, the central round table next to the wine bar is made from Dekton Awake in a high gloss finish to enhance the lighting and create an elegant and refined atmosphere.

Nachhaltiger Komfort

Decorated with highest attention to details, Hilton Resort & SPA represents a perfect place for those who enjoy a moment of relaxation while surrounded by art and world class design. In order to ensure a feeling of luxury and highest quality, multiple surfaces in the hotel have been embellished by Silestone by Cosentino low-silica mineral surface in one of its most elegant patterns – Eternal Calacatta Gold. Almost 700 m2 have been covered with this material, which, used in a wide variety of applications and combined with graceful textures and warm tones of wood, created a blend of ultra-stylish interiors across the entire building.

2023

In the mountain town of Navacerrada (Madrid), G34 Arquitectos has undertaken a particularly unique project: the renovation of a traditional stone cottage, increasing its living space by adding a series of hut-like modules that house new rooms.

The contemporary wood and glass extensions feature large windows, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The same openings have been replicated throughout the house to harmonise the style of the two units, giving the old building a brighter, more contemporary aesthetic.

Dekton, a versatile material ideal for creating continuity throughout the space

To maintain this sense of continuity, architect Ignacio Marqués Martínez decided to use the same floor throughout the space. The material chosen was Dekton Kreta ultra-compact surface, which, inspired by classic cement floors, brings a sense of calm to the environment.

Its design is homogeneous and restrained, although it includes darker or lighter areas depending on the density of the pattern, adding visual interest. “The exceptionally irregular finish of each piece contributes to the sense of quality of the space in each room,” say the professionals. In addition, the matt texture and shade of grey perfectly complement the black-painted metal of the windows and openings, as well as the wood used throughout the structure.

By choosing a limited range of materials and using simple, straightforward shapes, the studio G34 Arquitectos aimed to give the interior a serene, minimalist feel. This effect is further enhanced by the use of Dekton Kreta in various areas such as the kitchen island (“For kitchen worktops, Dekton is unsurpassed in terms of both finish and durability,” according to G34 Arquitectos), the shower area and the bathroom walls.

Large format slabs for continuous finishing

In each case, the largest possible slabs were used in order to minimise the number of joints. “We found it very easy to work with Cosentino. The work was redesigned to ensure the exact dimensions of each piece, and the product was even ordered already mitred,” recalls the project team.

“Given the need for large formats, it is crucial to rely on a high quality material such as Dekton. Furthermore, as the size of the slabs increases, it is important to ensure that they are flat to avoid lippage at the joints,” adds the studio. “Dekton’s ease of maintenance and cleaning, as well as its seamless surfaces, add to its appeal,” explains Marqués Martínez.

The decision to use Dekton was clear from the start, and finding the ideal colour was straightforward: “We were sure from the start,” they say. “Cosentino supported us throughout the process, from material selection to troubleshooting during installation on site. They even helped us determine the optimal slab layout to minimise costs,” conclude G34 Arquitectos.

In her most recent project, her own home, Carolina Rusinek, owner of KENISUR, chose Cosentino's materials for both the bathroom and kitchen.

When designing a space, Carolina thinks extensively about its multifunctionality: "Our way of life and habits change in a new phase of life and that affects how we deal with our home and spaces. With a more flexible home, you and your home can grow old together." In addition, an interior must have a timeless basis. Accessories, furniture, and walls that are more easily replaceable can be executed in trend colors.

Creating a timeless, serene space where she and her family can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life is the atmosphere that the bathroom should bring. A pleasant space where they start and end the day. To create a calm basis, she chose the combination of Dekton Grigio and Dekton Nacre for the floor and walls.

The inspiration for the bathroom comes in part from the walnut wood that was already present in other rooms of the house.

The washbasin top and the back wall of the furniture are also made of Dekton Grigio. With its warm nuances and gray undertones, Dekton Grigio fits perfectly with the walnut wood that has also been used for the generous bathroom furniture. This furniture has plenty of storage space, giving the bathroom a lot of peace. The use of Dekton Nacre offers a nice contrast with the other colors and materials in the bathroom.

In addition to the toilet installed in the bathroom, there is also a separate toilet room in which Cosentino materials have been used. Here, Dekton Marmorio was chosen for the floor and back wall, and Dekton Nacre for the side walls. Nacre has a stucco structure with a unique appearance. A beautiful combination that gives a lot of depth to the space. Together with the beige-colored sanitary ware and the playful niche with mosaic, this results in a beautiful toilet room.

"Not only the design and color were important in making the choice. I chose Cosentino materials because they are also sustainable and easy to install (thickness versus size). Moreover, I wanted the same material for both the washbasin and the floor and walls. I could easily realize this with Dekton. In the past, I have often used Cosentino in various kitchen projects, but this was the first time I applied the materials in a bathroom. The result is completely to my liking."

In addition to the application in the bathroom, the kitchen is also equipped with a Dekton worktop, Dekton Arga from the Stonika Xgloss collection. Just like in the bathroom, this color also combines beautifully with the walnut wood.

A Finnish log house with a Californian flair

A house with warm Californian vibes in Finland’s cold winter. A strange combination? Not really: the combination of these two very different and far apart decorative styles is called Scandifornian, and reinterprets neutral Scandinavian interiors by adding touches of the American South in the form of ethnic patterns, animal prints, handicrafts, vintage pieces and dry climate plants such as cacti.

In this house, however, the influence between the two worlds is genuine, to the extent that it is also reflected in the floor plan: the house features many windows, a clear layout, functional rooms, good views and a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, just like on the west coast.

It was designed by Olavi Kujanen, architect and creative leader of the world’s foremost log house manufacturer, Kontio. Kujanen, who is also the owner of the house, travels a lot and drew inspiration for his design from his favourite area of Palm Springs, California.

Luxurious and timeless materials for the kitchen: the choice of Dekton

Together with Kujanen, designer Piia Kalliomäki has opted for luxurious yet relaxed and timeless materials to dress the interior of the house: the sofas are upholstered in brown velvet and the coffee tables are made of brown marble; the Ralph Lauren blankets and cushion covers are in brown and dark blue cashmere, and the fabrics are in linen and cotton.

As for the kitchen, the furniture belongs to the Kontio Living collection by Kontio, a series that was specifically updated for this project. However, Kujanen chose Dekton Entzo for the worktop and splashback because of the beauty, durability, timelessness and outstanding properties of this ultracompact surface, which features advanced technical properties such as exceptional resistance to ultraviolet rays, scratches, stains and thermal impact, while at the same time having a very low water absorption rate. “I was familiar with Dekton from previous projects, so it was natural that it was part of this project as well”, says the architect.

Dekton Entzo, a realistic and natural colour

“The house reflects the lifestyle and luxury of California, so we have tried to bring the same spirit inside. That’s why the materials are high quality, classic and a natural colour. The furniture, fabrics and art pieces that Olavi has collected on his travels have found a perfect place in this setting”, explain the project managers.

For all these reasons, Dekton Entzo, a colour inspired by refined Calacatta Gold marble, was chosen to finish off the kitchen, which like the rest of the house features shallow, translucent units that let in light.

Realism and authenticity can be found in the random patterns of the golden veining, which blend beautifully with the collection of handmade ceramics in the room. “We used it in the kitchen to emphasise the realistic and high-end atmosphere of the house”, says the creative leader of Kontio.

A Silestone washbasin to finish off a luxury home

“Olavi has so many different ideas, and together we found a calm, beautiful and peaceful balance in this house project”, says Kalliomäki. So when they came across Silestone Desert Silver in the Cosentino Finland showroom, they didn’t think twice: its calm, textured grey shade had to be part of the interior design of the house.

But not only did they take into account the beauty of this mineral hybrid surface, but also the fact that Silestone, like Kontio, is a leader in its sector. This hybrid surface of premium minerals and recycled materials is highly resistant to stains, impacts and scratches and is easy to clean and maintain without compromising its high depth and gloss.

Silestone Desert Silver was used in the bathroom of this peaceful house. Specifically, it was the colour chosen to finish off the bathroom furniture, consisting of a seamless countertop and washbasin designed by Kontio. This choice not only ensures the high quality and exquisite design of the entire project, but also with thanks to the use of a single continuous washbasin surface, enhances the spaciousness of the room. In fact, the house is 142 square metres but it looks much bigger thanks to smart decisions like this one.

Located in Bukit Batok, a residential area in Singapore, this house conveys pure nature thanks to a project by Mesh Werk Studio that emphasises the relationship with nature in accordance with the owner’s wishes. Earthy tones and materials such as Silestone were some of the key elements that brought this project to life.

According to the studio, the biggest challenge was “the large number of plants the customer wanted to incorporate, so we had to choose worktops with a colour palette that would match neutral and easy to maintain materials.”

Lots of plants and an open concept

In keeping with the strong open concept, the kitchen is connected to the living and dining areas, with wood and white providing the link between the spaces. Designed as a living and functional space, the kitchen revolves around two work areas and an island that are separated from each other to allow natural light to enter through the windows.

And it was precisely the brightness and white colour that were key in choosing the worktops for the three volumes of the kitchen. “We chose Silestone White North because it is a white shade reminiscent of the beauty and power of nature, it fits perfectly the natural theme of the project, and it has the durability to meet the customers’ daily needs. We all fell in love with this colour. It suited our design perfectly.”

Durable washbasins

The bathrooms also feature Silestone, but this time the colour chosen was White Storm, a white shade that, like the softest calm after a storm, brings clarity and light to the rooms. In both bathrooms, White Storm was used for the vanity countertops and is complemented by tiles in shades very close to nature, such as green and beige. Wooden base units and mirrors, with a different design in each bathroom, complete the look.

“The high quality of Cosentino products has given us the peace of mind that comes from knowing that our customer’s home is equipped with the best worktops. We’re confident that the product will meet the high quality demands of our designs and even improve our work. I would recommend it to all our customers, especially if they’re looking for beautiful and high quality materials,” concludes the studio.
