The location, layout and design of a kitchen can make or break the experience of a house and changing the kitchens in these homes made them infinitely more liveable and appealing. So far, this season’s kitchens are certainly catching our attention, so here’s how to get that look.

Greenslopes, QLD

Rachael and Ryan bought their Queenslander home five years ago. Ryan quickly became tired of the constant maintenance, while Rachael believed it has great bones. Neale showed what could be created with those good bones, designing a new kitchen that is striking in black and white.

Decorative breeze blocks form the kitchen island, with Dekton® Bergen on the top and sides of the island. From the Stonika Xgloss Collection Bergen is inspired by natural portobello stone and has greyish veins through an off-white base. It is also used on the splashback and to clad the rangehood, as an elegant contrast to the black cabinetry.

Surry Hills, NSW

Tom and Katie bought their house in Surry Hills but soon developed buyer’s remorse. They asked Neale to improve the floor plan to create more liveable space. Their new kitchen is functional and classic in French navy and white.

It has a beautiful Silestone® Eternal Statuario benchtop in Suede, which benchtop cantilevers over the kitchen island to make space for stools, while the rounded corners help movement and flow in the limited space.

Wheeler’s Hill, VIC

Sam loves the location of the 1970s house, while Uttam wanted a new place to call home. Neale had the task of fixing the 1970s floor plan to create a functional family home. The open-plan kitchen now has an island for cooking and sitting at with Silestone® Desert Silver benchtops. The palette also includes light-grey overhead cabinets, timber island and a fun, geometric arrangement of tiles on the splashback.

Silestone® Desert Silver is also used for the laundry benchtop, with blue-tiled splashback and light-grey cabinetry.
