The aim of this report is to make clear all activities and initiatives undertaken in CSR, demonstrating the commitment that the Cosentino Group has maintained from the outset to the sustainability and improvement of our social, economic and cultural environment where it operates.

Bringing together all the good practices carried out in one document enables us to assess and give them the importance they deserve, because at Cosentino we know that doing things well is synonymous with becoming better every day and growing within and outside the company”, states Francisco Martínez-Cosentino, Cosentino Group President.

The Cosentino Corporate Social Responsibility Report highlights its ongoing commitment by those who make it possible, through their daily work, that “Cosentino will take on the future” in the words of Francisco Martínez-Cosentino. Cosentino has reinvested in safety, health, equality and training for its 2,200+ employees all over the world. The Cosentino Corporate School was also opened in 2011 to coordinate the development of internal professionals for the successful performance of business functions and activities.

Commitment to sustainability is another key aspect in the report as it is seen as a starting point to ensure that existing businesses has continuity in terms of employment and future profitability.

Cosentino’s strong commitment to corporate social responsibility encompasses respect, prevention and environmental control in all industrial processes in which the company participates; from material extraction to product distribution. With sustainability being one of its main challenges, the Cosentino Group reinvests a significant percentage of its annual revenue in pioneering solutions. As a result of this commitment, in 2011 the company’s Environmental Department helped Cosentino to become the first company worldwide in the quartz worktop sector to obtain the Life Cycle Analysis certification and Carbon Footprint verification.

Cosentino creates and participates in several activities aimed at contributing to and promoting sustainable awareness in all areas where it operates such as architecture, cuisine, design and fashion. An example of this was the development of the sustainable thinking conference “Shape” in 2011 and 2012 with the participation of chefs, architects, economists and other worldwide recognised figures.

Continuous improvement, innovation and development are core values within Cosentino and these translate into specific actions undertaken by the company’s R&D Department. As stated in the CSR report, the relentless pursuit of improvement in our products and actions is synonymous with creating value and well-being for society. An important milestone for Cosentino is the development in recent years of the exclusive bacteriostatic property for Silestone® quartz surfaces, through a cutting edge technology based on silver ions.

Also underlined in this report is the relationships with local institutions, foundations, universities, research and development centres, and on-going support to culture through sponsorships and partnerships.

Commitment to education is extremely important to Cosentino and is invested in heavily each year. As the CSR report states, Cosentino has developed a number of initiatives such as the Eduarda Justo Foundation scholarships, through which several young students study graduate programmes in top universities like Harvard and Columbia.

Cosentino’s Corporate Social Responsibility Report is a great tool to monitor the evolution of the company and provides guidelines to further improve the ethical values and social and environmental actions in order to join forces and build a better world.
