Special from every corner

Located in the wooded area of Lage Vuursche (The Netherlands) you can find Hotel Ernst Sillem Hoeve. This former coach house from 1880 has 85 modern hotel rooms, a restaurant, a swimming pool, an infrared sauna, 2 hotel bars and 20 meeting rooms.

Hotel Ernst Sillem Hoeve combines the grandeur from the past with current modern facilities. In 2018 the restaurant part was renovated. Etienne Bouten, of B+B Interior architecture, took care of the design.

A material to withstand thermal contrasts

The client as well as the interior designer had experienced cooking on DKTN before. A worktop-concept with an invisible induction hob mounted below the DKTN worktop with induction cylinders and cooling plates. This makes direct cooking and cooling on the material possible. The induction hob is invisible for the eye, but when the chef puts a pan on the worktop, he can start cooking. “This gives a bit of a surprise for the guests and a unique experience in the restaurant,” says Etienne Bouten. Next to this, the material is also great for cooling and preserving food.

Cooking on DKTN is a unique concept and guests find it really cool that they can just touch the worktop and it is not hot. This is because after removing the pan, the worktop immediately cools down. For the worktops which are being used for cooking and cooling the hotel chose for the DKTN colour Kelya, a luxurious matte black colour with the look and feel of Spanish marble with light grey veigns.

For the bar, Silestone was chosen in the colors Grey Amazon, an earthy color with lots of movement which gives the bar a warm charisma. For the pantry and high tables Silestone Bianco Rivers was used. This is a luxurious marble look which brings timeless class yet modern charm to the room.

Valdebebas 127 is a residential project with an exclusive location along the edge of Valdebebas Central Park in northern Madrid. The development consists of 201 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, all with double orientation, views of the park, storage rooms and parking spaces.

This project’s most notable features are its façade, thermal and acoustic efficiency, as well as its incorporation of the latest technology and application of innovative, next-generation materials for construction, architecture and design, such as DKTN and Silestone.

A project designed to be energy efficient

DKTN has been chosen as the façade cladding for this project due to its excellent aesthetic and building qualities, which ensure exceptional durability and extraordinary thermal performance.

The selected DKTN colours - Warm and Korus - bring harmony and restraint to the development. Warm’s white finish gives the building a cosy feel and brings it into harmony with its surroundings. Korus’ grey shade has been installed to highlight particular parts of the façade, complementing the colour Warm to perfection. The pedestal has been surfaced with Domoos, a very elegant black shade that facilitates a unique contrast with the larger areas.

The exceptional qualities of DKTN were a key factor in its choice as the façade material. Its large format, as well as its variety of textures and colours, have allowed us to respond and emphasise our play on form and volume.

Silestone, easy to maintain aesthetics

The Valdebebas 127 project was conceived with the idea that its interiors, like the exteriors that surround them, would be of the highest quality and provide design that stands out.

The Silestone Kador model has been chosen for the shower trays, providing the excellent durability of this material, which is entirely impervious to stains and scratches. The colour chosen for this application - Silestone Blanco Zeus - brings a sense of cleanliness, hygiene and space to the environment.

White Zeus, resistance that captivates

The kitchens in this housing development were conceived to give customers top performance. Silestone guarantees worktop quality, durability, low porosity, stain resistance, easy maintenance and cleaning, scratch and knock resistance, a wide range of colours and textures, and large-format and custom manufacturing.

The search for light meant that the colour chosen for the worktops was the purest white: Silestone Blanco Zeus. The kitchens are elegant, restrained and light-filled thanks to Silestone.

The unique soul of historical buildings

Sophistication on all levels, that’s what defines chef Wouter van Laarhoven and his partner Malou Hagenaars. In 2019 they realized their dream and opened restaurant/bodega ‘Alma’ in Oisterwijk (The Netherlands). In this they found the perfect location with an unmistakable charm and history. The building called ‘De Lind’ is known in Oisterwijk as ‘De Swaen’ (the Swan) since 1631. Top chef Cas Spijkers used to cook the most beautiful dishes here.

On the top floor of the building a fine dining restaurant was created which can seat 48 people. It includes a balcony with a beautiful view over De Lind, perfect for outdoor dinners in the Summer. In restaurant ‘Alma’ everything comes together and the cuisine brings true meaning to the frase ‘soulfood’. Alma means soul in Spanish, a refferal to the high level experience the couple offers their guests.

Advising from start to finish

The interior design of Alma has a strong Spanish influence. Chef Van Laarhoven fell in love with DKTN by Cosentino, strong slabs in a natural stone look and feel. Architect Jeff van Riel of Zout Ontwerphuis made a design for the restaurant.

Van Laarhoven visited the Cosentino facilities in Spain during the design process. “What struck me most in Spain is the size of the slabs. I got a good picture of the veining in the matieral. It was wonderful to be able to visit the factory and see all the colors in large size. That eventually led to the choice of a different colour than we initially planned.”

Design that stands up to professional demands

The choice for DKTN was made thanks to the elegant yet robuste look and durability of the material – DKTN is resistant to stains, scratches and extreme temperatures. The material has been incorporated in the bar, the tabletops, in cupboards and in the kitchen where the material even is being used as induction hob to cook on. This is a unique application for a professional kitchen. Because DKTN is heat resistant, induction coils can be placed underneath the worktop.

The induction process does not transmit heat to DKTN, only the used pan transmits heat temporally to the surface. Through a special operating system the temperature can be raised. This makes this application not only beautiful, but it also brings practical advantages like a large kitchen countertop without interruptions. The surface is very easy to clean, simply use a damp cloth and the stain and heat are gone.

Now nothing stands in van Laarhoven's way of cooking the most beautiful dishes, assisted by his wife who is also a cheese master.

The perfect symbiosis between kitchens

The Ti Trin Ned restaurant has become a reference in Danish gastronomy since 2001. Located in the old quarter of Fredericia, on the shores of the Baltic Sea, this restaurant takes its culinary offerings to an almost intimate level where diners and chefs share spaces. The experience had to flow, according to the concept of manager Mette Hvarre Gassner and chef Rainer Gassner, who have created a perfect symbiosis between a restaurant turned into an open kitchen and a ‘production’ kitchen. The result – one Michelin star.

To do this, it was necessary to merge two spaces with different characteristics and needs: on the one hand, priority was given to the aesthetic beauty of the surfaces, which had to complement the flavours of the menu; and on the other hand, it was essential to have a material that could be resistant to the thermal shocks, scratches and stains inherent in a busy kitchen. DKTN uniquely combines functionality and design, two features that make it truly attractive for professional kitchens all over the world.

“The resistance of DKTN represents exactly the attributes we are looking for, without compromising on aesthetics and design”
Rainer Gassner

Rainer Gassner

Domoos and Kreta for two working environments

During the development of the project it was important that the two spaces, i.e. the open kitchen and the ‘production’ kitchen, were interconnected yet physically separate. The solution was to use a combination of two textures: the dark, almost black texture of DKTN Domoos for the worktops and the wall cladding in the open kitchen, and the soft grey of DKTN Kreta, from the award-winning Industrial Collection by Cosentino, used in the 'production' kitchen.

It is in the latter where DKTN’s unique properties stand out. Its large format of 2700X1400 mm, which runs from floor to ceiling, provides a sense of continuity that also makes cleaning easier by reducing joints. Ti Trin Ned’s kitchen is one of the easiest to maintain in Denmark.

Eco-friendly aesthetics

Ti Trin Ned offers a type of cuisine that is deeply rooted in its natural environment, with ingredients firmly established in tradition and respect for nature. For Mette and Rainer Gassner to find a material that is as beautiful as it is sustainable was a matter of pure coherence. DKTN, as a carbon neutral product, meets this requirement perfectly.

“We are impressed by the features of DKTN and, at the same time, the concern for the environment and recycling that motivates Cosentino’s R&D. This is in line with our philosophy of respecting natural resources”.

A design to match every surface

In June 2018, the Mediterráneo Bay Hotel & Resort opened its doors after a full refurbishment to celebrate its 25th anniversary. This cornerstone of the Almería hotel industry is located in a peaceful area on the seafront in Roquetas de Mar. With 367 rooms, an enormous lagoon-shaped swimming pool, a second pool with water slides for the little ones, a children’s club, a fitness centre and much more, the Mediterráneo Bay Hotel & Resort is a four-star paradise perfect for a dream holiday.

Cosentino became a trusted partner in this refurbishment process. Its presence can be felt throughout every inch of the common spaces and rooms in the hotel, with materials from its DKTN, Silestone and Natural Stone brands.

Bildnummer 136 des aktuellen Abschnitts von Hotel Mediterráneo - Seite 3 von 4 von Cosentino Deutschland

The Cosentino family of materials stands out in every detail

The hotel’s main façade, crafted in more than 340 m2 of texturised crema marfil-coloured marble, grabs the visitors’ attention to greet them upon arrival. A water fountain refreshes the traveller’s visual palate next to the façade, also crafted in marble, in a 2 cm texturised Sierra Elvira tone.

The guest arrives at the hotel lobby with the assurance that everything to follow will be sophisticated and in good taste. The lobby’s flooring is made of ultra-compact DKTN surfacing in the Danae colour tone, used in the 157 x 140 x 0.8 cm and 320 x 140 x 0.8 cm formats to guarantee the perfect visual continuity in a spacious and bright environment.

Durable and design-centred refurbishment

The buffet bar was crafted in the Blanco Zeus Suede model of Silestone with a 2 cm thickness. The counters for the other two bars were built with Alaska and Ibiza white marble, respectively. In addition, the dining area leaves guests spellbound, as the entire floor shines with the spectacular effect of the polished Venato Carrara floor covering, in its 40 x 40 x 2 cm format.

After the visual feast of the hotel’s common areas, guests arrive at their room to discover, to their delight, that it follows the same aesthetic theme. The room and bathroom are cladded with polished and bevelled Crema Marfil marble tiles, with the bathroom flooring honed in the same tone and the countertops fashioned in a gorgeous Carrara white marble in the 120 x 60 x 2 cm format.

As a whole, the refurbishment of the Hotel Mediterráneo Park in Almería is a showcase of the design possibilities for the entire line of Cosentino surfaces.

Exclusivity inspired by DKTN and Silestone

The beaches of the South Atlantic still boast lush areas of virtually unspoilt nature, even in towns where the economic boom has driven rapid growth, such as Itapema in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.

Itapema's urban planning strategy is focused on respecting the region's environment by limiting the height of buildings and promoting sustainable construction. Based on these concepts, the Infinity Club Residence is a luxury apartment building that combines neoclassical interior design with open spaces in which the light and textures of Cosentino's surfaces play a leading role.

Bildnummer 164 des aktuellen Abschnitts von Infinity Club - Seite 3 von 4 von Cosentino Deutschland

Sustainability starts with materials

Every apartment in the Infinity Club Residence offers its tenants a selection of ample spaces, from a beautiful garden area that leads to an impressive swimming pool on the building's main terrace, to communal leisure areas, a gymnasium, lounges with sea views and bathrooms worthy of a five-star hotel. Many of the most striking surfaces have been designed using DKTN and Silestone.

The spacious and luminous kitchens are just one example, designed as a space for family and friends to come together to cook and relax around the remarkable worktop made from DKTN Trilium. With a thickness of 20 mm, it was inspired by the intense grey and dark reflections of volcanic stone. Trilium looks stunning while also promoting the sustainability of the building, which has been built with a remarkable 80% of recycled materials.

Easy to maintain elegance

Kensho by Silestone is a mottled grey with a soft and uniform grain, subtly enhancing outdoor spaces designed for relaxation as well as the bathrooms and indoor pool area, where Kensho has been used for the washbasins. Silestone is a material that barely requires any maintenance and resists the damage caused by the most common everyday stains.

An elegant colour with a clean and flawless finish was chosen for the suites’ bathrooms. Zeus White by Silestone in Suede finish is a failsafe choice for areas where hygiene and cleanliness are paramount.

The Infinity Club Residence in Itapema has made optimum use of Cosentino's wide range of shades and textures while benefitting from the first-class technical features of DKTN and Silestone as key elements in the home.

138m2 of DKTN and Silestone creating the feeling of freedom

There are restaurants designed with such attention to detail that diners find the interior as delightful as the food. In the grounds of São Paulo’s Museum of Image and Sound, Pipo serves a bold fusion menu for all five senses within an open-plan, airy space where food and nature are the stars. DKTN and Silestone surfaces form the basis for this delicious pairing.

Architects Renata Castilho and Camila Buciani, from RCB Arquitectura, wanted to create a relaxed, light-filled setting without architectural restrictions of any kind. The main kitchen opens onto the dining room, providing a live and direct view of the attention to detail that chefs put into every dish.

DKTN Orix; the colour of creation

DKTN Orix, from the Industrial collection, lends elegant and surprising tones to this creative workspace: the mixture of blues, greens and blacks gives a distressed concrete look to the worksurfaces and grill, a particularly sensitive area due to the high temperatures. With its high resistance to heat, DKTN perfectly fulfils aesthetic requirements as well as technical ones.

Orix has also been used on one of the restaurant’s walls, providing the sense of unity that the project’s architects were looking for.

See the light with DKTN Nilium

A calm, luminous space, decorated with simplicity yet pleasing to the eye. This was the overarching concept driven by Renata Castilho and Camila Buciani. With wood and ornamental plants playing a key role, the design needed a surface that would complement these elements and reflect the joyful dazzle of Brazilian life. DKTN Nilium, also from the Industrial collection, was a particularly attractive option.

Reminiscent of the fine, sparkling sand of Brazil’s beaches, Nilium has been used to create harmony between the key surfaces, such as tables, countertops and the walls of the bar and wine cellar. The harmonious result elegantly contrasts with the materials chosen for the kitchen. The feeling of freedom is enhanced by Nilium, a colour full of nuances like the golden and grey flecks that enrich its tone.

Finally, the Blanco Capri shade, in Silestone this time, was chosen to continue the light and airy feel of the restaurant all the way to the bathrooms, which gleam thanks to this pristine tone.

Silestone heightens the beauty of one of Perugia’s oldest bars

In recent decades, the city of Perugia has grown sufficiently to provide a dynamic and cosmopolitan setting for visitors and residents alike while preserving its small-town charm, nestled in the landscape of Umbria, one of Italy’s loveliest regions. The city’s businesses, as a result, have a very real commitment to upholding its aesthetics and history.

The owners of Caffè Morlacchi, one of Perugia’s oldest bars and strategically located on the square of the same name, were clear that any refurbishment of the premises must preserve the welcoming and elegant atmosphere. Their challenge was to find a material that would withstand the heavy footfall of a popular bar while also complementing the the brick-vaulted ceilings. To accompany this iconic feature of Caffè Morlacchi, along with Liberty Lamps, designer chairs and custom lighting, there could only be one candidate: Silestone.

Eternal Marquina, or the beauty of contrasts

The solemnity and elegance of Silestone Eternal Marquina completes Caffè Morlacchi’s unique atmosphere: seven panels of this colour cover the surface and external sides of the counter, recalling the finest of marbles. The intensity of the black base and the lively white veining are enriched by a Suede n-Boost finish specifically designed resist any type of stain.

Once again, Caffè Morlacchi is ready to welcome current and future residents and tourists for an afternoon or evening of lively conversation, with an espresso or good “birra”, in hand.

Maison Bab is a casual dining restaurant and culinary celebration of kebabs, located in Covent Garden, London. The second restaurant from founding partners, Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet, its design is central to the relaxed vibe, boasting stylish interiors designed by Angus Buchanan. The ultra-compact DKTN® by Cosentino surface brand is featured throughout, from the bar to the tabletops, providing a striking repetitive design that brings the space together.
