“Aesthetics and quality were the key elements in the choice of Cosentino for this project in San Simón, Colombia. A total of 108 square metres of Cosentino materials were used in the project, in a variety of applications and thicknesses, bringing materiality to the space and giving it a unique style and character,” says Catemar City.
The studio, which specialises in architectural surfaces and is a global distributor of natural stone, was commissioned to design an extraordinary 600 square metre dwelling in which Dekton and Silestone shine.
“The most interesting architectural and decorative element of the project is the Dekton Awake cladding for the double-height wall in the social area”, say the professionals. Located behind the stairs, the Dekton Awake wall reinterprets the iconic features of precious paonazzo marble: a thick veining with gradients of light grey and cream that blend with luscious rusty terracotta shades and subtle hints of inky blue. The professionals highlight in particular “its ability to reflect light, provide materiality and create a focal point.”
The dining table also features this abrasion, scratch and stain resistant surface. This time, the colour chosen was Khalo. Khalo is inspired by Patagonia natural stone, one of the most appreciated granites due to its unique structure and colour. Thanks to its polished finish, achieved through Dekton XGloss technology, Khalo features a spectacular shine that enhances its complex and colourful chromatic structure of deep blacks, pale golds and toasted browns.
This is not the only use of Dekton in the room: the double sided fireplace, which divides the space into two distinct areas, is also clad in Dekton Domoos, a sober and elegant graphite black. Dekton’s ability to withstand high temperatures and even fire justified the choice of this material, which was also used for the coffee table tops.
Dekton Laurent stars in the sober and cosy kitchen
And the list of applications goes on, as the homeowners really fell in love with Cosentino colours. “We were given different options to suit the style and personality of each member of the family,” says the homeowner. The kitchen island, for example, is clad in Dekton Laurent, which features a pattern inspired by the natural stone Port Laurent and a surface texture that brings an interplay of nuances that enhance the contrast of its tones. In addition, its golden veins establish a hierarchy in the space and bring warmth to a cold, dark background, which in turn add depth to the overall effect.
Meanwhile, the splashback features Dekton Eter, a colour with a dark granite structure in black and grey tones and a strong contemporary character, which was chosen to create an elegant combination. Eter was also the colour of choice for the outdoor kitchen worktop, as Dekton is weather resistant.
Dekton and Silestone for the bathrooms
“Aesthetics, quality and strength” are the characteristics that the inhabitants of the house highlight when they are asked about Cosentino products, so it is not surprising that the bathrooms also feature this stone, which is available in dozens of different colours and comes with a 25-year warranty. Dekton Sirocco was used for the flooring in the secondary bathrooms, while the master bathroom features Dekton Entzo on the wall and countertop.
Two other Cosentino materials were also used in the secondary bathrooms: Silestone Posidonia Green, a serene, full of light shade of green that elegantly illuminates and brings harmony to any space, was used for the countertops; and Silestone Cala Blue, a deep, modern and stimulating blue shade which, in its interaction with light, strikes a balance between the depth and surface of the sea.
