Making a swimming pool look inviting may seem simple enough: who doesn’t fancy a refreshing dip when the temperature is right? But when it comes to groundbreaking and unusual design, you can tell there is a brilliant mind behind it. Such is the case with the exterior of this house in the heart of Urla, Turkey, where the homeowners commissioned designer Çevik Korkusuz to create their swimming pool.
Defying convention with its curved shapes, the swimming pool was carefully designed to be the ultimate complement to its surroundings, blending seamlessly with nature – a feature for which Korkusuz has been praised. When asked about the most striking aspect of the project, the designer emphasises the importance of the choice of materials. “The main objective was to use materials with solid design aspects that would technically complete the project,” he says. And he succeeded. The shape of the swimming pool, combined with the harmony created by the choice of materials, has brought the exterior of this house to the fore, creating a visual spectacle.
A modern and elegant touch with Dekton Fossil
Indeed, the choice of Dekton Fossil was no accident. Not only does this material offer great technical and technological advantages, but it is also highly resistant to pool chemicals, making it ideal for this application in every respect. “The material enhances the design aesthetically,” adds the designer, emphasising how Dekton complements and enhances the overall concept of the pool.
But what makes this pool truly unique? The answer lies in Cosentino’s choice of materials. Specifically, the use of Dekton Fossil. This ultra-compact stone brings a modern yet elegant touch with its dark colour and unique texture. Its large size also allows for a level of design integrity that is difficult to achieve with other materials. For Korkusuz, the aesthetic benefits of Dekton are not the only ones that stand out: “With its high strength, it has become an ideal material choice for an area where durability is essential,” he says, pointing out that durability was a key factor in his decision.
A kitchen that shines with Silestone
In addition to the stunning swimming pool, there is another room where you can revel in the beauty and quality of Cosentino materials. The kitchen, styled in a combination of black and white, features Silestone Bianco Calacatta on the worktops, fronts and island. This colour not only adds luminosity, but also gives the area a bold character with its electric thick veins against a greyish background. This dramatic effect creates an atmosphere of elegance and is the perfect complement to the kitchen’s revamped classic aesthetic.
Thanks to Çevik Korkusuz’s vision and the Silestone and Dekton effect, this villa in Urla now boasts a spectacular kitchen and one of the most desirable swimming pools in the neighbourhood. Shall we take a dip?
