A Showroom Decked out in Dekton’s Pietra Kode

A showroom in a small town in Waikato sounds like an unlikely place for a cutting-edge interior, but Paton Kitchens defies assumptions with its stunning new workspace. The Coromandel business takes care of kitchen design and manufacture, custom cabinetry, new builds, renovations, joinery, appliances, and design services, and it’s in their revamped Ngatea showroom, decked out head-to-toe in Dekton, where their clients often first experience Cosentino’s products.

“The showroom has about three to four different spaces to have a conversation in or create designs,” explains Paton’s Olivia Wootton. “We wanted each section of the renovated space to have beautiful displays of Consentino ranges and all of our amazing cabinetry products.”

The new interior features full slab wall displays of Dekton by Cosentino’s Reverie, Laurent, and Liquid Shell, along with a range of samples displayed in their custom-made shelving, but the showroom kitchen is the star of the show. Sited as the centrepiece of the showroom, the layout features a beautiful island fabricated in 20mm Dekton Vk04 Grafite. Designed with drop-down pillars and a custom-made Dekton-lined sink insert, the black and grey ultra-compact island makes a contemporary design statement and adds texture and impact to the space. Nearby, a benchtop in 50mm Albarium benchtop, paired with a full-height splashback, complements the palette of greys, browns, and neutrals.

“The kitchen space is perfect for the wine and design events we host each month,” says Olivia, whose clients come to Paton Kitchens for their attention to detail, custom designs and fabrication, and moody, sophisticated spaces. “The challenge was to create a space more like a design studio in a home. We have replicated the illusion of a calm and homely feel so that when clients experience our showroom, it represents a realistic insight of what they could do at home.”

“We have only ever displayed Cosentino products due to not only the quality and look of their products but also their ethos as a company and the service they provide our clients when they visit their showroom,” adds Olivia. “Dekton has become our mainstay in our kitchen designs, for its softer natural finishes along with its heat-, scratch- and stain-resistant properties.”
