An interior design for enjoy the surroundings
The spectacular views of the beach are the main attraction of this apartment located in Itapema, Brazil. That is why Gabriela Herde, the architect in charge of interior design, was clear from the beginning that the main objective of the project was to make the most of the surrounding scenery, integrating it into the design but without forgetting the comfort and functionality of the decor.
The starting point was to design a large open-plan space that would encompass all the main living areas, so that the sea view could be seen from both the living and dining room, as well as from the open-plan kitchen and barbecue. The latter is a perfect example of how to combine so many different spaces by using the right solutions and materials. Because in spite of being an interior element, the barbecue becomes an outdoor area thanks to the glazed enclosure, ready to be opened completely when desired.
Dekton combines easy maintenance and style
The greatest success with integrating such an unusual element into the living room was the choice of Dekton for the fire area: an ultra-compact material that is hygienic, easy to clean and that guarantees safety and quality at high temperatures, being flame resistant.
The visual continuity achieved by combining the same design in different applications has been possible thanks to the Dekton Aura 15 model. This bright design not only introduces a trend such as the use of veined surfaces, but also contributes to creating a stylish and sophisticated atmosphere that will stay as good as new for years to come without maintenance or special care.
Limitless
Dekton is so versatile that it is perfect to create all kinds of elements, from floorings and claddings to kitchen countertops, unit tops and even customized sinks, as can be seen in the refined geometric design of this project, perfectly integrated into the kitchen, minimising the joints where dirt can accumulate.
“I like using Dekton on countertops because it is a very resistant material which does not stain nor scratch and is not affected by temperature changes”, explains Gabriela regarding her choice.
The dynamic veining of Aura 15 creates a unified atmosphere in the flat, by combining it with a sophisticated grey for the kitchen cabinet doors and display cabinets in the dining and bar area. Also in the living room area it is combined with wood panelling, just to add a touch of warmth and contrast. Therefore, achieving a perfect balance.
The wise choice of lighting – combines sunken ceiling spotlights as a general light source, diffusing ambient light from the false ceiling, and LED strips for shelves, cabinets and panelling– manages to create an interesting contrast of light and shadow on all Dekton surface areas, from polished to silky matt-lacquered surfaces and wooden textured ones.
Customized spaces
The design present in the main living areas is also found in the rest of this 200 m2 flat, which has four en-suite bedrooms with bath and dressing room, making the most of all available space.
In terms of customization, Dekton offers an added advantage, since its eight slab designs can be placed randomly, creating combinations where the veins can flow from one piece to another, which can be very interesting for walls or floors distinguishing certain areas, as the possibilities are countless.
The same arguments justify the choice of Silestone White Zeus for the small but complete laundry area, located at one end of the main living area, highlighting once again the strong connection between functionality and design that characterises the entire interior design project of this flat.
One space, a thoen-gbnd possibilities
Designed to be enjoyed both with family and large groups of guests, the layout of the spaces, the use of robust materials ready for a demanding and continuous use, and the style details such as the strategic arrangement of mirrors –which maximise the light and the views– make this flat elegant and functional and above all, comfortable and welcoming.
