“In the process of creating great works, a good designer is not unlike an artist. The key difference is, unlike art, our role is essentially about serving the user and the space.”
Lawrence Puah was first introduced to architecture in a career talk during his secondary school days and was so intrigued by the uniqueness of the profession that it led him to NUS Architecture School eventually. However, upon graduation and after practicing architecture for a few years, he lefts the profession to try out graphic designing and even ran a bakery (family business), which in his mind are creative fields as well, just in different forms. This exploration during his early formative years eventually led him to realise that his true passion lies in architectural and interior design. So it was more of a journey for him rather than challenges or a calling. Today, Puah is the Design Director of akiHAUS, a boutique interior design consultancy firm located in Singapore.

The support of the companies is key
This is where companies like Cosentino matter! The materials that Cosentino has created addresses all the major concerns that designers face when it comes to balancing design, function and cost with sustainable considerations.
Resistance to scratches and staining – checked. A wide variety of beautiful designs that emulate natural materials, and even in a matt finishing – checked. Reasonably priced – checked. Fabricated using sustainable means – checked.
This is the reason why we’ve used so much of Cosentino’s materials in our projects. The icing on the cake is how responsive the team at Cosentino has always been when it comes to our enquiries and request for support. This allows us to maximise the potential in the usage of the materials, which is not limited to kitchen counter tops but also in the fabrication of custom furniture and even basins.

We must take care of our relationship with our homes
“Ultimately, if a design feels like it has always belonged without any apparent intervention, even though the intervention is apparent, then the act of design has faithfully fulfilled its purpose.”
