The geometric design and the intertwined volumes give character to the architecture of this single-family home located in the town of San José de la Rinconada, in the province of Seville. A contemporary concept in which the architects, led by Aroa Vega López, have succeeded in designing a dynamic structure in which natural light plays a particular role. ‘Two volumetric bodies come together to create a single piece full of three-dimensional volumes,’ explains the studio. ‘This makes for an interplay of light and shadow that interacts with the natural light to change its own appearance into different versions throughout the day’.

In this project, Dekton becomes a key material in the façades, as it manages to distinguish the different modules and, at the same time, to establish a dialogue between them. More specifically, the architecture studio chose the powerful cement grey colour Dekton Vera to clad one of the bodies, ‘providing it with greater volumetry and magnitude and thus making a distinction between the two bodies’, they stress. Dekton Laos has also been used for the upper balcony area, adding depth with its industrial touch and dark grey tone.

Innovation for the façade

‘Working with Cosentino surfaces has enabled us to implement new tools and innovation in fixing systems,’ explain the architects. To achieve this ‘amazing finish’, as they describe it, the installation required a complex process, for which they were advised by the Cosentino team. This type of façade with large-format pieces must be installed by qualified fitters capable of installing them with the precision required for each project.

The volume that connects vertically with the large window is clad in its blind part with 8 mm Dekton Vera panels using the DKB fixing system. These pieces, supplied by Cosentino with grooves on the back for fixing Raimondi safety clips, are glued with cement-based adhesive type C2S2 for a full slab format of 3,200 x 1,440 mm. The minimum 3 mm joint between pieces along with a grout colour similar to Dekton gives visual continuity to the surface and helps to understand the overall volumetry.

Laurent’s natural elegance

It was the wide range of colours and finishes that attracted the design team to opt for Dekton also in the interior of the house. The kitchen and living room share a common style and aesthetic with the addition of Dekton Laurent. In the case of the kitchen, the Laurent texture – with its distinctive warm golden veins on a dark background – is used to clad the impressive island, as well as the worktops and the splashback, creating an interesting contrast to the wooden units and adding a lot of warmth to the overall look.

Laurent can also be found in a stylish living room piece that serves as a TV cabinet. Like a large piece of stone furniture, the Cosentino surface turns this part of the house into a very elegant and aesthetically striking space.

Stylish wet areas

The bathrooms in the house have been designed as true luxury spaces that act as a spa. To enhance the feeling of a natural environment, promoted by the large amount of light that penetrates the house, Dekton colours have been chosen to amplify and reflect the luminosity. Liquid Sky, with its ethereal and swirling look, is used for the entire cladding of one of the bathrooms as well as an outdoor toilet area. In a more sober style, another of the bathrooms features the deep Liquid Embers colour, a dark design with a flowing and elegant veining. Liquid Embers has also been used for the pool waterfall, creating a monolithic-looking sculptural form.
