Light and dark neutral tones combined with a hint of wood and subtle yet functional lighting form the basis of one of the latest kitchens designed by Indonesian studio Inerre Interior.

‘Top-of-the-range kitchens are often designed with luxury and style in mind. This is why Dekton is one of the most prominent features in the kitchen we designed,’ the studio says. ‘The material chosen for the worktop can have a major impact on the overall aesthetics of the kitchen, contributing to its premium look and feel,’ they add.

In this case, to emphasise the luxurious effect of the LD Residence project, the worktop and front have been clad in Dekton Kelya, a sober and refined colour inspired by dark marble with light veins. It is the perfect complement to the appliances in this project.

Integrating high-end appliances into the kitchen, a challenge that has been met with excellence

‘One of the biggest challenges in designing the kitchen for LD Residence is the fact that it is a top-of-the-range kitchen. It is equipped with high-end appliances, which can be a challenge to integrate seamlessly into the design,’ says Inerre Interior. This is because these appliances ‘often have specific space and ventilation requirements that need to be taken into account during the design process’, say the professionals.

In the end, Inerre Interior achieved a seamless and elegant integration by adding three different types of clean-lined metal hob to the worktop and concealing the extractor hood in the wooden top unit above. The matt cream-coloured base units also conceal the dishwasher, while the oven and microwave are housed in the panelling created at one end of the room to form a large pantry.

A stylish and practical table in Dekton Aura

At the centre of the sophisticated kitchen is a large table for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It features a top made of Dekton Aura, whose pattern pays homage to the precious Calacatta and Carrara marbles. In this colour, subtle veins have been drawn to evoke the lines of these natural stones on a white background that perfectly complements the furniture in the kitchen.

‘We have used Cosentino materials in many of our kitchen projects and have always been pleased with their aesthetics, durability and functionality,’ stresses Inerre Interior. As well as the wide range of colours available, the professionals point to the exceptional durability of Dekton, an ultra-compact surface that can withstand knocks, scratches, extreme heat and cold without changing... In fact, thanks to its virtually zero porosity, it even resists stains and can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

‘Cosentino materials are one of the most outstanding features of our kitchens and it is thanks to them that we often receive positive feedback from our customers. As interior designers, it is always gratifying to hear them say this, because a happy customer means that their expectations have been met or even exceeded, and their satisfaction with the project reflects the success of our designs,’ the studio concludes.

Guanzate, in Italy, has a place that is worth a stop in an exclusive venue for lovers of the most elegant of sports, tennis. The new Club House, designed by Architeca, is a meeting place for the club’s members and a great example of how modern architecture can coexist harmoniously with its natural surroundings. The use of innovative and sustainable materials was key to the project, including a range of Cosentino materials, which were chosen for their durability, strength and aesthetics.

The most distinctive feature of the Club House is its ability to blend in with its surroundings, as if it had always been part of them. According to Architeca, “the structure has been designed to blend in with its surroundings, interpreting the colours found in nature, particularly in the bark of the trees”. This continuous dialogue between inside and outside is reinforced by the use of rows of ropes that define the architectural lines, sharpening and emphasising the shape of the floor plan and allowing the garden to visually penetrate the Club House.

Sustainability with Dekton

The material of choice for both the façade and all the washbasins in the building was Dekton by Cosentino, which was chosen for its technical properties, quality and durability. The sustainability of the product was also crucial to the studio, which has always been concerned about the environmental impact of its choice of materials. For the exterior, Dekton was chosen for its resistance and durability, while for the interior it was the ease of cleaning that was decisive. Indeed, the washbasins, which feature a range of Dekton colours – including Helena, Morpheus, Kira, Albarium and Soke – offer surfaces that are very easy to clean, perfect for such a high-traffic area.

Furthermore, the close and smooth collaboration with Cosentino allowed the creation of a customised colour based on Dekton Kadum but specifically adapted to the project. This joint effort guaranteed that the chosen colour would blend in perfectly with the natural surroundings, a choice that, according to the studio, “perfectly conveyed our idea”, delivering a successful result that delighted both the architects and the customer.

Its resistance to weather conditions such as hail, its durability in the face of intensive use and its ability to retain its colour when exposed to constant sunlight are just some of the advantages that Dekton brings to this space. “Initially, the project was conceived in sheet metal, but then we came up with Dekton, which convinced us with its strength and ease of handling in the event of replacement. The substructure has been specifically designed to make any replacement easy,” says the studio.

With an exterior dominated by straight lines and a seemingly simple style, there is nothing to suggest that this 1,150-square-metre house in Brazil has a magnificent interior, halfway between industrial and minimalist, but combining warmth and elegance in a sumptuous way. The project was brought to life by architects Gledson Marques de Castro and Magnun de Castro from Studio Castro, with interior designer Fernanda Marques leading the interior design. The result is a unique fusion of sophistication, modernity and functionality, with Cosentino playing a key role in the finishes.

The project has always aimed to harmonise with the outside and its surroundings, using natural materials and a minimal yet elegant design. For both studios, it was essential to create a dialogue between the inside and the outside, ensuring that the finishes in the most specific areas of the house met the requirements of durability, resistance, aesthetics and functionality. So Cosentino was the natural choice, especially Dekton and some of its finishes.

Luxury and sophistication meet the beauty of stone

The worktop in the gourmet area, for example, is clad in Dekton Kreta, inspired by classic, moderately trafficked concrete floors. The design is uniform and controlled, featuring darker or lighter areas depending on the density of the pattern. In addition, its matt texture and grey shade match all types of materials, making it suitable for any application. The fact that this is an outdoor area meant that it had to have the performance that only Dekton can offer in terms of resistance and ease of maintenance.

In the kitchen and dining area, Dekton Domoos adorns the worktops, seamlessly integrating the cooking area, island and dining table into one continuous line. Its graphite black colour exudes an elegant and refined aesthetic, making Dekton Domoos ideal for those who appreciate understated elegance. It is worth noting that the front door of the house is also made from Dekton Domoos, maintaining a sense of continuity and adopting a brutalist-inspired style that perfectly complements the concrete ceiling of the house.

Staying within the confines of the kitchen, Dekton Sirius is the other kitchen worktop with a textured black appearance with greenish accents that bring realism and strength to any room. The pieces were made by Marmoraria JR.

A chromatic change is made in the bathroom, pantry and sideboard of the master suite, where the architects opted for Dekton Aura. This colour pays homage to Calacatta and Carrara marble, with a white background decorated with veins that evoke the intricate lines of the natural stones. The 8 mm thick slabs have been used for both floor and wall cladding in the bathrooms, enhancing the sense of luxury and sophistication in an environment surrounded by nature.

The narrow spit of sand at Sandbanks, which forms a small, privileged peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean, is home to some of the most valuable property in the world. In fact, its square metres command some of the highest prices in the world and its relaxed, affluent lifestyle has led to it being dubbed ‘Britain’s Palm Beach’. Here we find a newly built residence where a variety of Dekton colours have been used to clad everything from the façade to the sauna.

With its contemporary style of large windows, right angles and modern vertical lighting, the house immediately grabs your attention. But the first thing that catches the eye is the cladding, thanks to Dekton Lunar, a reinterpretation of the traditional cement aesthetic with an industrial twist. Its subtle texture against an off-white background makes it very trendy, perfectly suited to the architectural proposal of this project. The colour is combined with Dekton Domoos, a sober graphite black used in the eaves to provide contrast.

In this avant-garde space, Dekton was the obvious choice because of the unique properties of Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface. These include high resistance to UV rays and the saltpetre present in the area, as well as to water, stains, freezing and thawing, ensuring that it remains intact over time. So durable, in fact, that it comes with a commercial warranty of up to 25 years and requires virtually no maintenance.

Dekton for interiors too

The interior of the house also benefits from the wide range of colours and design advantages of Dekton, which has been used to clad the staircase and as worktops in the two kitchens: the main kitchen and a very unique one next to the indoor swimming pool. In both cases, Dekton Bergen was chosen, with a realistic aesthetic based on the natural Portobello stone. The beauty of its greyish veins, with a sculptural pattern on a whitish background with delicate filigree, perfectly complements the neutral and serene environment in which it is set.

Meanwhile, the dining table proudly boasts a striking bespoke tabletop in Dekton Trilium. An amalgamation of volcanic stone-inspired tones with intense grey and black accents, this is the first Dekton colour to be made from up to 80% recycled material in 2016.

Dekton iD: customised colours for an exclusive look

For the bathroom and indoor pool mentioned above, the client wanted something exclusive, so they ordered two unique Dekton iD colours. This Cosentino service customises Dekton slabs with unlimited possibilities in terms of colours, patterns, textures and finishes.

The colour chosen for the bathrooms is Liquid Sky, a swirling, marbled pattern of ethereal air that celebrates the scientific principles of fluid dynamics on a white base punctuated by grey veins. The pool, on the other hand, evokes the characteristics of Dekton Orix, a worn, cement-inspired surface.

Finally, both the pool and sauna floors feature Dekton Nacre, an elegant cream colour ranging from a fine micro-cement to a lime plaster look, with subtle details and a degraded texture that adds a high sensory value, perfect for these relaxation areas.

Minimalist, restrained and balanced. This is the house designed by architect Christopher Kim in the serene landscape of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. The design of the house succeeds in creating a seamless dialogue between minimalism and connection with nature through a refined design. This was achieved through the correct, intelligent and strategic selection and integration of innovative materials, such as the ultra-compact Dekton surface and the hybrid mineral Silestone surface, which play a key role in the design.

The continuous interaction with nature is achieved thanks to the fact that each window is a living image of the outside world. According to Christopher Kim: “the design blurs the boundaries between inside and outside, creating harmony and tranquillity.” This approach allows residents to feel part of the landscape and brings a unique sense of peace and contemplation to the home. “When designing this villa overlooking the forest, I wanted to bring the soft northern light and the view of the snow-covered forest through the windows into the interior,” the designer further says.

The role of Dekton and Silestone in Kim’s architecture

Christopher Kim chose materials that complement his vision of a “simple and slender” style that reflects his personality in every detail. “With their high functionality, realistic reproduction of natural stone and excellent durability, Cosentino materials are perfectly suited to an architecture that makes the most of individuality,” he says. Used extensively for surfaces that require resistance and design, such as worktops, claddings and high-traffic areas, Dekton stands out throughout the project for its durability and adaptability.

The choice of Dekton Taga provides a finish reminiscent of natural stone, echoing the surrounding snowy forest, while the material’s subtle gloss helps to blur the visual boundaries between inside and out, diffusing a soft light that envelops all the spaces.

Adaptability to the Japanese environment

In Japan, natural factors such as landscape, topography and winter wind direction determine the shape of a building and the location of facilities. In Karuizawa, a summer resort area, buildings tend to be one-storey and extend horizontally, while in snowy areas such as Niseko, buildings are taller and extend vertically. “When designing, I try to keep the shape of the building in harmony with nature and not interfere with it,” says Kim. This philosophy is clearly reflected in the villa, which subtly blends into its surroundings with the utmost respect for the landscape.

In addition, the use of Silestone in some specific areas, such as the mini-kitchen and bathroom, demonstrates the design’s commitment to aesthetic continuity. In particular, Silestone Coral Clay was used in the mini-kitchen, allowing users to enjoy the space while taking in nature through the windows. Meanwhile, in the bathrooms, Silestone Poblenou was used to great effect, combined with glass partitions that create a bright and open space.

The architect also sees privacy as an essential factor in the design of a holiday home, especially in this age of social media. In this regard, Kim says: “Recently, because of the influence of social media, the number of people looking at the house from the outside and taking pictures has increased.” The architect’s solution was to incorporate strategically placed walls and make generous use of space to ensure privacy without compromising views.

When it comes to contemporary architectural trends, there is nothing we value more than the reinterpretation of traditional housing typologies. And this is exactly what we find in the latest proposal from the Rubens Cortés Arquitectos studio, located in the heart of El Realejo, Granada. The project, which they have christened Casa R, redefines the essence of the traditional Granada courtyard house, widely known as the Carmen. Who better than the Andalusians to master the art of harmonising indoor and outdoor living? We have no doubt.

With this in mind, the porticoed spaces that traditionally served as a transition between the house and the garden are now permanently integrated. The structure unfolds as a continuous architectural dance in which house and courtyard intertwine, reflecting the region’s characteristic lifestyle of flowing between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Not wanting to be ‘slaves to their home’, the homeowners set out to create a low-maintenance, energy-efficient home. In addition, their two dogs, Ron and Jako, the masters of the house, needed plenty of space to enjoy themselves. Rubens Cortés’s solution is a hermetic, commanding house on the north side that gradually decreases in height and mass towards the south, where it culminates in a porticoed structure that embraces nature.

One of the main challenges of the construction was to avoid the unwanted thermal bridge between the roof and the house. The studio’s solution was to create a structure that connects to the house at specific points, with the external insulation wrapping around the entire dwelling. This configuration eliminates the thermal bridging and ensures energy efficiency.

The multiple applications of Dekton create a dialogue between indoors and outdoors

The choice of materials proved to be a key element in achieving the team’s vision for the project. “We mainly used Dekton for both the interior and exterior flooring. The swimming pool, the central feature that acts as a pool, is also made from Dekton,” remarks Rubens Cortés Cano, founder of the studio.

When asked why he chose Cosentino, the architect praised the ease of use for the users, the protagonists of every project. “We selected Dekton because the clients did not want to spend a lot of time and money maintaining the house. This product is highly resistant and easy to clean,” he points out. He also highlights the technical properties of the material and the large format, which allowed the use of single-cut slabs for the entire floor.

In addition to the durability, the wide range of finishes and colors offered by Dekton was another key factor. Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface features from the exterior to the interior: Kreta, Rem, Kelya, Sogne, Sirius are masterfully combined in the project. “I would like to thank Marta Gamarro for her collaboration on all the interior design work. She has used various Cosentino finishes in the bathrooms, kitchen worktops, etc.,” says the architect.

Dekton, easy to install and highly versatile

As is often the case, several alternatives were considered before Dekton was chosen. “We looked at natural stone. We even visited the Cosentino factory in Almería to explore the options. In the end, however, we opted for Dekton,” says Cortés, who is pleased with the way the material was adapted and installed in the project.

Finally, when asked about working with Cosentino, the architect does not hesitate to express his gratitude for the treatment he has received: “Throughout these years of collaboration, Fernando Molina Rodríguez and Alejandro Gómez Queralt have helped us in every possible way. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their tireless attention, advice and supervision of the project until its completion, which took almost four years”.

It is only with reliable allies such as these that goals such as Casa R, a testament to the fusion of local tradition and contemporary innovation, can be achieved.

Almost 700 square metres of open-plan, warm and spacious interiors decorated in white and neutral tones and light coloured wood. This could sum up this very unique house in San Nicolás, a private neighbourhood located in a privileged area of Montevideo (Uruguay), where lakes, parks and more than 5,000 trees from 20 different species abound.

“The most interesting and challenging part of the project was to make the most of each space in a functional and aesthetic way, to combine the majestic with the warm, the familiar and the pleasant”, explain the designers behind the project. It is none other than the team from Estudio Diego Algorta, who teamed up with interior designers Camila Torres and Florencia Rapetti, from Estudio PaiPai, to decorate this home.

Together they achieved exactly what they set out to do: to create elegant spaces of harmonious beauty that were at the same time highly functional. For instance, this is quite evident in the kitchen, where the team decided to use a beautiful island in Dekton Opera, which was also the material chosen for the worktop and the front.

Inspired by the elegant Italian Carrara marble, Dekton Opera features a simple light grey veining that adds depth and character to its creamy white background, offering a classic finish with a sensational velvety smooth feel.

Dekton and Silestone: extraordinary durability and sophisticated beauty

“We chose both Silestone and Dekton because of their durability. As it was a family home, we needed hard-wearing surfaces. Our priority was to design spaces to be enjoyed and, for this purpose, low maintenance is key”, the studio says.

Indeed, Dekton, Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface, is perfectly resistant to scratches, extreme heat and cold – even fire –, impacts, stains… As proof of this, it comes with a 25-year warranty, ensuring extreme durability.

According to the designers in charge of the project, Opera was also the colour chosen for the worktops in the laundry room and the pantry “because of its light colour and subtle veining”.

Finishes that appeal to the eye and the touch

Dekton was also the material chosen for the barbecue area. Specifically, the colour chosen was Kelya, a tone with a touch of uniqueness inspired by dark marbles and featuring a light veining that gives this area of the garden an extra punch. “We fell in love with its matt finish”, says the team of Estudio PaiPai referring to the solid, satin finish that characterises this design.

Dekton was also used for the bathroom located in this area of the house. In this case, the colour chosen was Zenith, a Nordic white shade that is perfect for fresh and large spaces and which the professionals chose for “its purity”.

Likewise, the cladding in the bathrooms features another Cosentino product, Silestone. In the guest bathroom, the surface chosen was Eternal Noir, a colour that catches the eye thanks to a delicate and careful design inspired by the symmetry and elegance of natural stone. Used for the countertop with built-in washbasin, its straight lines and sober pattern give the room a dark but welcoming accent.

Nexton Parkway is an up-and-coming area in Summerville, South Carolina that is drawing attention from high-end businesses and residences in the region. This project came to be after The Middleton Group, a South-Caroline based architecture firm, learned about Dekton, a large format ultracompact surface characterized for its hardness, peak performance, and resistance to the elements.

The Middleton Group fell in love with the look and durability of Dekton and how different it was from any other material they’d worked with in the past. They were excited by the novelty and innovation this surface could bring to The Hub at Nexton.

Originally, brown brick was chosen for a part of the facade, but after the building mockup was created, the decision was made to paint the brick white in order for Dekton to stand out and become the focal point of the design. In this commercial project we can see two Dekton colors: Fossil and Sirius.

From the Natural Collection, Fossil is a gray, natural looking surface that brings the look and feel of aged fossilized pieces, as its name suggests. On the other hand, Sirius from the Solid Collection is a smooth black color with a textured visual sensation and subtle greenish touches. The HyComb system was used for the application of the facade.

With Dekton, business owners at The Hub at Nexton can have the peace of mind that their facades will stay looking as beautiful as the day they were installed. Dekton is resistant to extreme hot and cold temperatures, graffiti, scratches, stains, and more.
