Cosentino celebrates the joint launch of the Silestone® Le Chic and Urban Crush collections in Singapore with a special collaboration with RSP, a Singapore-headquartered global multidisciplinary architectural and engineering design group.
Unveiled to the media and industry friends last week at cocktail soirees called Sunset Sessions is the Sun Bar, a three-metre-long bar that majestically presides over the main gathering area of Cosentino City Singapore at Marina One.
Designed by RSP’s Design Director Mark Wong and Principal Interior Designer Kristine Tagaban, it features a smart lighting control that allows the skin to be backlit according to desired moods.
“The Sun Bar is inspired by the idea of the sun as a living furniture,” says Wong. “Like the sun that changes its colour throughout the day and seasons, we’ve brought this essence into the design of the bar – a design which gathers people around and sparks interaction.”
The bar presents a striking visual thanks to its colour-changing skin, which comprises almost 500 modules of Silestone samples from the new collections and 1,000 units of LED modules from Million Lighting.
Holding this skin together is a carpentry carcass constructed by Sunray Woodcraft Construction. The Silestone Bohemian Flame from the Le Chic collection tops the construction elegantly with its dark base and shimmering coppery veins.
The Sun Bar is not the first collaboration between Cosentino and RSP, but it is the first brainchild of RSP Lifestyle, the company’s new arm focusing on lifestyle work, branding and innovative business.
Given the company’s robust network with industry partners, the RSP team is confident of its ability to collaborate with different specialists for bespoke outcomes that include architecture, furniture, lighting, and launch experiences such as Sunset Sessions.
“We believe that not all problems require a spatial solution. Sometimes, the best outcome can be crafted and artisanal,” says Law Yoke Foong, Head of Business and Executive Director at RSP.
“We wanted to see how we can leapfrog Cosentino’s launch with us as architects to showcase their products via a designed piece by RSP. We hope that the Sun Bar continues to be a talking point, an experimental piece and about successful collaboration stories,” she adds.
