Cosentino's origins date back to a small town in southern Spain called Macael and a modest family-owned marble manufacturing company founded by Italian immigrants in 1945. The founders of this small workshop were Eduardo Cosentino and Eduarda Justo. Little did they know that this would be the seed of the multinational company we know today.
Over the years, new machinery was introduced for marble processing: sawing looms, waterjet cutting discs, decanters, and more. Production was increasing and predominantly destined to Catalonia, where commercial work was taking place.

Thanks to hard work and the expansion of the business, in 1965 the first marble quarry in Macael was purchased, called "Perro Muerto", which, due to the difficulties of the times, led to the first bankruptcy of the business.

The family’s economic recovery prompted the purchase of a second quarry, “La de los Hoyos,” which was crucial for the growth of the company and the integration of the sons into the family business.
The second generation consisted of sons Eduardo, Francisco and Pepe, who founded Mármoles Cosentino S.A., the parent company of Cosentino S.A. with a staff of 17 workers. They moved to a new 40,000 m² facility in the municipality of Cantoria, where the company's headquarters are still located today.
The industry is very active; Mármoles Tranco joins the business and a period of great technological innovation begins, adding value to the product, both in terms of cutting and polishing. The river water jet diamond cutting machine is introduced for the first time.

Marmolstone is ahead of the market
But perseverance paid off and in 1991 they found the key: Silestone. A new surface made from minerals and pigments that was far from natural stone and brought something revolutionary to the kitchen for the first time: color.
This material was designed for various applications, but when it was presented at the Expo-Piedra (Seville) and Cevisama (Valencia) trade fairs, it was hailed by professionals as a revolution in the kitchen world, allowing for more open and colorful spaces with functional design countertops.
The company began the relentless task of innovating in an industry that was well known and established in the region. They did not want to follow the status quo - it was time to create something new. This obsession led them to 3 bankruptcies, one of them a result of the failed manufacturing of a new material: Marmolstone.
Launch of the first in-house manufactured material: Marmolstone. A complex product that led to bankruptcy, although less than a year later the company recovered and launched a new and improved version: Silestone®

Silestone® – a revolution in the kitchen world
1992 was a key year for the company, thanks to its participation in the Seville International Exhibition (Expo 92), with Macael white marble in the auditorium and Silestone® in the Andalusia and United Arab Emirates pavilions. Silestone® was also the material of choice for the interior cladding of the Collserola Tower at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics.
As a result of the merger between Mármoles Cosentino, S.A. and Cosentino Stone, S.A.

International expansion begins with the opening of the first branch: Cosentino North America. Thanks to the success of the Silestone® product in several European countries, Israel, Canada and the USA, there was a constant export activity, which led to the creation of the first international subsidiary.
Based in the Netherlands, it has been the driving force behind the creation of business units in Scandinavia, Central Europe and some Eastern European countries.
The opening of the Brazilian branch is the start of the company’s expansion in Latin America. Exploratory work begins on a future granite processing plant that would lead to the creation of the subsidiary company Latina de Vitória. Countertop manufacturing workshops were opened in several South American cities.
A workshop is opened in London, Stone System London, and a Cosentino Center warehouse is opened near the British capital.
Antibacterial protection is introduced within the Silestone® brand. It is an additive that is incorporated in the early stages of manufacturing, so it is part of the whole material, not just the surface layer.
