A Retrospective of Cosentino’s Furniture Collaborations

Cosentino’s architectural surfaces have conquered the market for multiple, from kitchen and bathroom to building facade. Yet there is one sector that we haven’t talked enough about, one that is ripe for its potential for collaboration with creatives across disciplines: furniture design.

Today, Cosentino’s offering includes the Dekton® Slim collection, which, at 4mm-thick, is ideal as a slimmer, more lightweight finishing option for cabinetry and custom furniture, expanding Dekton®’s application even more to the realm of interior decor.  Here are some inspiring recent projects.

Debuted at Milan Design Week 2023 in April, the OO is a collection of five objects designed by local furniture designer Studio Juju. Presented as part of Future Impact, an exhibition organised by DesignSingapore council, the OO collection was made entirely from Dekton® Vicenza Kode series, whose carbon neutral property fits the exhibition’s theme of interrogating the sustainability of future design. The name of the collection alludes to the objects’ shared design language: a couple circular holes that allows for multiple uses.

In Malaysia, two more recent collaborations marked Dekton®’s versatility as furnishing objects. Doubble Interior Associates created three objects: a curvy console called La Chapa using Dekton® Avorio, and a cubist chair called Acero and a faceted coffee table called Madera, both using Dekton® Marmorio.

Meanwhile, Aureole Design conceptualised an Art Deco Inspired collection comprising a pair of stools, a side table and a mirror pedestal using Dekton® Nebbia and Grafite. Showcased during Dekton® Pietra Kode’s launch, both collaborations were beautifully fabricated by JJ Stones.

In Indonesia, Dekton is in high demand for custom furniture pieces to match the rest of the interior, and tie together the spaces into one cohesive tableaus, as seen in this opulent house in Indonesia by ALIGN Architecture.

Dekton®’s appeal and high-performing capability as furniture design has attracted many prominent collaborators both local and international, the likes of Tom Dixon, Daniel Liebeskind, Remy Meijers and Colin Seah. Crafted with Dekton® Kraftizen, Seah’s 2022 Garden Table garnered quite a buzz with a design that makes way for greenery with its organic-shaped cut-outs.

But Cosentino surfaces’ furniture application dated back to 2016 with a bonafide international furniture brand, Expormim. Brought together by their shared values and Spanish heritage, Expormim offers some Dekton® colours as finishes into its table collections. These were displayed earlier in July at Cosentino City Singapore.

The furniture brand also offers the option to customise the furniture in their catalogue with any Dekton® colours. The collaboration has expanded Expormim’s technical abilities, as well as the finishing options and distinguishability of its products, as well as showcasing Dekton® 's versatility beyond the architectural application.

We hope this retrospective inspires you to use Dekton for your own furniture and decor. Follow our Instagram  for more inspirations!
