Cosentino promotes ‘Environment Month’ with several activities for its employees
Around World Environment Day, the company develops a full agenda with volunteering activities for its employees that will take place throughout June.
Consolidated as one of the companies in its sector with the greatest achievements in environmental matters, as reflected in its latest sustainability report, Cosentino is organizing the "Environment Month" in the coming weeks. A comprehensive campaign that, from internal and local, seeks to act as a corporate citizen to raise awareness about caring for the planet and natural resources, with global ambition and external impact. This year, the actions promoted by the company will be associated with the UN’s campaign #BeatPlasticPollution, which aims to reduce the volume of plastics that reach the oceans, and change towards a circular economy.
This program is part of its global corporate campaign “Care for the Planet”, which establishes a permanent framework for all Cosentino’s pillars, initiatives and solidarity projects related to sustainability and social. Based on the premise that the first ambassadors of change are its own employees, different activities will be used as leverage to contribute to the change we all want to see in society and citizenship.
This month's agenda started yesterday, World Environment Day (5th June), with an intense program placed both at the HQ in Cantoria (Almería) and at corporate offices of Cosentino NorthAmerica in Miami. In Cantoria, the auditorium hosted the presentation of the company's last sustainability report, one of the most advanced reports on ESG. This act also served to render thanks to Antonio Urdiales, Director of the Environment till now, for his enormous work to build the sustainability area in recent years. After that, the photographer Carlos de Paz explained his project “Océano Plástico”, a book of underwater photographs that denounces the pollution of the seas through images and words.
Finally, the day concluded with a talk by Nicola Cerantola, founder and director of Ecologing, and professor of Ecodesign and Circular Economy. Cerantola addressed the latest trends in applied circularity, and presented his Ecocanvas approach, which seeks to connect sustainable design with the design of resilient businesses. For its part, Cosentino's HQ in Coral Gables (Miami) also organized a talk on climate change with Dr. Pablo Méndez-Lázaro, member of the Puerto Rico Climate Change Council and co-investigator in a NASA projects. All these sessions were broadcast via streaming for all Cosentino employees globally.
Plogging/Waste collection and C Market
The company launches a call for all its employees in the coming weeks so that they can go to collect waste in any nearby natural space (forests, rivers, beaches...). A waste collection "battalion" that will be shared on Cosentino’s social media to reach greater awareness. This campaign will reach its peak both on June 10 in Miami and on June 17 in El Toyo (Almería) with plogging activities and family waste collection.
Likewise, the company will organize a new edition of its C Market starting next June 21, a market located at its headquarters in Cantoria, to give space and support local suppliers with proximity Km. 0 products.
The entire month will be full of several internal initiatives in order to communicate the investments in sustainability to the entire Cosentino workforce. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the "virtual coffees" with Management this week, focused on the company's reports and commitments, or the Sustainability Tour that will take a face-to-face and virtual tour on June 22 (for employees located in other countries) to the Cantoria Industrial Park. The guided tour will focus on the main environmental projects that Cosentino is currently developing, such as the second phase of the photovoltaic installation for self-consumption, or the Wastewater Regeneration Station
Contests, awards, distribution of ecological materials, or actions in Cosentino City around the world, will complete the Environment Month initiative that will also be accompanied in parallel by an intense schedule of new content and videos in the main Cosentino profiles on social media networks.
