Silestone® stands out in the ARCOmadrid Spanish design proposal

This Sunday, March 10, one of the most important international contemporary art fairs, Arcomadrid, ended. The 43rd edition had the participation of 205 galleries from 36 countries. For the fifth consecutive year, the Guest Lounge has become the Spanish creativity showcase. A VIP space where the most important Spanish design and habitat brands have shown their proposals in front of an international audience that appreciates the value of innovation and creativity.

This year Burr studio -famous for its experimental architecture- was responsible for the Guest Lounge design after emerging as the winning proposal in the call launched by ARCO, together with the Leading Brands of Spain Forum and AD magazine. The project focused on the shore and the tide, terms that define the limit between sea and land, an indefinite space “that represents the changes we are experiencing and those that are to come. Both the rise in sea level and the decrease in water reserves are two repercussions of the current climate crisis”, as explained from the studio founded by Elena Fuertes, Ramón Martínez, Álvaro Molins and Jorge Sobejano.

The proposal was divided into three main spaces: the main room, the restaurant and some sponsors areas, combining the architectural and aesthetic proposal with the function of serving as ARCOmadrid VIP space for rest, meeting and gastronomic area. It was precisely the restaurant area that accommodated an iconic piece, designed in collaboration with Burr, made from Silestone® hybrid mineral surface. As defined by the studio, an abstract object that acted as a centerpiece within this space.

Made through a curving-up and assembly process, the element has been made with several pieces of Silestone®, in “Le Chic” Romantic Ash and Eclectic Pearl colors, as well as Et Marfil color from “Eternal” series. Thus, in addition to the high design and aesthetic properties of Silestone®, the brand also has provided to Guest Lounge with added value of sustainability thanks to the Hybriq+® technology. An innovation that provides to Silestone® a new nature as a low silica hybrid mineral surface, made with premium minerals and recycled raw materials.

Likewise, this collaboration served to advance Silestone®XM, a new distinctive that will mark the brand's upcoming collections which are produced with a 10% maximum crystalline silica content. For ARCOmadrid 2024 Guest Lounge, Burr Studio has also collaborated, thanks to the coordination of Leading Brands of Spain Forum, with Actiu, Crevin, Fama, Gandiablasco, Joquer, Lladró and Ondarreta Spanish design brands.
