GranGusto is a spectacular semi-professional kitchen made up of a wide variety of high-quality elements and materials that make this place into a ‘sacred’ space in the house, the beating heart of any gathering with friends or family.

Recognising that we invest a considerable amount of time and energy in choosing the kitchen that best expresses who we are, that we like the most and that is best suited to our everyday needs, Riva 1920 offers modular hardwood kitchens that are very aesthetic, high-quality and durable. In these kitchens, styles from the classic to the modern determine the materials chosen: kitchens with unbroken lines that stretch and flow, kitchens where the bases or worktops are at a comfortable height for the user, kitchens whose utensils must be both functional and practical. GranGusto exemplifies all of these things.

The impressive GranGusto worktop, created with the ultra-compact surface Dekton® Sirius, steals the eye with its intense dark finish. Thanks to its superb technical properties, such a high resistance to stains, scratches, heat and cold, the revolutionary surface Dekton® has become this iconic kitchen project’s best ally.

Supermodel Coco Rocha’s perfect kitchen

The young Canadian top model and her husband oversaw the refurbishment of their home in Westchester, New York. The design of the bright kitchen combines white Silestone countertops which, contrasted with the walnut-coloured furniture, create an elegant and modern space.

Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha has good taste both when it comes to dress sense and the interior design of her house. When remodelling her house in Westchester, New York, located an hour north of Manhattan, she created an airy day area comprising an open-plan kitchen and living room area. Of all the areas in the home, the open kitchen takes prominence, where Coco and her husband, James Conran, combined walnut-coloured furniture with white Silestone countertops with a glossy finish. The fact that they designed such minimalist areas with simple ambiances allowed them to balance the colour with daring, loud, and even rebellious pieces of pop art.

Under a concept of an open and spacious kitchen, dining and living room, contained within a 15-metre-long room, Coco highlights the importance of materials in this transformation: “We followed a simple and contemporary design… The materials were really crucial for achieving the desired style”. In this sense, it’s not surprising that they chose our Silestone® quartz surface, specifically selected in a North White colour, due to its great elegance and because it guarantees excellent durability without requiring hardly any maintenance. Something which the model appreciates, as she loves cooking with her daughter and this means that she does not have to worry about stains. In fact, to create coherence on the whole, the couple used the same Silestone® colour for the kitchen countertops and the gas fireplace lining.

In terms of the layout, the peninsula bar serves as both a work area and a meeting point, while helping separate the kitchen from the adjoining living-dining room. However, the large island is the true centre of operations.
The refurbishment project has been covered in several reports in decoration and fashion magazines, such as Good Housekeeping and Vogue, among others.

Cosentino featured in seven spaces at Casa Decor

Silestone and Dekton are present in seven spaces in Casa Decor 2018

For yet another year, we seized the opportunity to have the best interior designers, decorators and plastic artists use our materials to recreate their extraordinary areas for the 53rd edition of Casa Decor Madrid. Of the total 67 spaces decorated by the professionals, seven feature a wide variety of Cosentino products: table tops, kitchen countertops, bars, sinks… Here are the highlights from our different areas:

‘Feelings’ Dining Room, by As Interiorista and Alfaro Arquitectura

The name of this room already conveys that this space is inspired by emotions. It consists of a fusion of cultures and architectural, pictorial, sculptural and photographic trends, where the sensations of avant-garde cuisine can be enjoyed to the max. The area, which is very colourful, is dominated by a dining table with one leg (the other is metallic) and a top made of Dekton® Entzo, offering a very luxurious aesthetic by mixing golden tones for the veining with the pure white beneath.

‘Art’ Living room, by Jaime Jurado

The interior designer and plastic artist Jaime Jurado has created this lounge with sober and elegant colours, adding a bold and fresh touch in one of the most important pieces of the living room: the sofa. A space which would not be complete without art and which also features Dekton® Entzo, although this time in the form of table tops, a sideboard and supports.

‘The Apartment’, by Ele Room 62

In this small apartment, the people in charge of the project, Inmaculada Recio and Silvia Trigueros, have expressed the importance given by Belgians to their home, recreating practical, well organised spaces, which do not compromise on elegance. In particular, they used Dekton® Kelya, which is inspired by black marble with light streaks, for the countertop on the kitchen island and the laundry liner.

‘Apartment for Ofelia’, by Raúl Martins

The furniture company Natuzzi has entrusted this project to the interior designer Raúl Martins, who has designed two sophisticated, harmonious environments with no shortage of textiles: bedroom and living-dining room. In this case, Martins uses Dekton® Aura 15, with a marble effect, for the lid of a beautiful auxiliary piece of furniture and a decorative composition on the wall.

‘A journey through time’ Public Baths, by Miriam Alía

Miriam Alía draws influence from the avant-garde aesthetic of the 60s to design spectacular bathrooms with dramatic effects. The walls and floors incorporate a relief effect to become three-dimensional elements. In this “journey through time”, the interior designer aimed to create a space where Hollywood glamour and luxury come hand in hand. That’s why she incorporated a washbasin made with Silestone® Blanco Zeus, with straight and sober lines.

‘A Garden of Contrasts’ Terrace, by DmasC Arquitectos

Casa Decor Madrid’s rooftop is a luscious green area; a kind of mini-garden to escape from the urban environment. The space mixes outdoor and indoor elements, with two greenhouses. In fact, one of these includes a bar made with Dekton® Entzo, chosen by DmasC Arquitectos, which as we have seen throughout this tour of the exhibition, was also previously chosen by the family company As Interiorista, as well as the interior designer and plastic artist Jaime Jurado.

‘Dorian’s Story’ Auditorium, by Silka Barrio

Silka Barrio takes us to a place where our imagination will run wild; a place of stories, fables, legends… Nature invades this space to the very last corner with technical textiles, used in the chairs, ceilings, walls and decorative elements, as well as carpets and tiles with prints of works from emerging artists. And to top it off, the catering bar and one of the pieces of furniture have been coated with Silestone® Eternal Marquina, with a dark black background and bright contrasting white veins.

Casa Decor 2018 will close the exhibition on 25 March. Why not come see these and other spaces for yourself? Visit us on Calle Francisco de Rojas no. 2, in Madrid, and check them out.

The premises

OPA Sukaldería is located in the heart of the Gros district of San Sebastián, and occupies a total space of 496 m2, divided over two floors. The ground floor is occupied by the kitchen and the dining lounge, while the bathrooms are located in the basement.

Clarity of space, contrasts, an upbeat, cosy environment, myriad ways of welcoming customers, high-quality decorative and architectural products, and the use of recycled materials are just some of the key concepts that de ne this project.

The ultra-compact surface Dekton® by Cosentino, and the ecological Silestone® Eco Line range were chosen for this design. More than 400 m2 of Cosentino products were used in this inspirational culinary project.

Kitchen and Dinning room

The spectacular kitchen and dining lounge are located on the ground floor. In this large space, the emphasis is on the visual contrast between the natural, marbled finishes of the Dekton® Kelya and Dekton® Aura tones, and the wooden planks and metallic textures that permeate the entire room.

 loading=

Worktops and countertops

One of the priorities of this design was to harness the concept of an open kitchen, to allow customers and diners to see the chefs’ creative process first-hand.

The Dekton® Aura worktops and counters connect the kitchen with the rest of the room in an elegant harmony. Their wonderful pure white clarity, together with their distinctive veins, make them the room’s stand-out feature.

The safety and hygiene o offered by Dekton® when handling food, its high tolerance for both heat and cold without suffering aesthetic or structural changes, its high resistance to stains and scratching, and the availability of large format cut to size were determining factors in the choice of Dekton® surfacing.

Furthermore, Dekton® Aura was used as counter for the furniture located throughout the dining room, bringing greater visual harmony to the space as a whole.

 loading=

Wall cladding

The contrast between the stainless steel, which can be seen in abundance throughout the kitchen, and the deep, dark, matte finish colour of Dekton® Kelya, is quite simply magnificent.

In addition to the beauty and outstanding technical bene ts of Dekton®, the option of installing large format slabs for the kitchen walls, with minimal visible joints, gives the space a greater sense of continuity and aesthetic elegance.

Bathrooms

Descending to TOPA Sukaldería’s lower oor, via a stairway area lined with Dekton® Kelya on its walls, we reach the area where the bathrooms are located… An undeniable treasure trove of contrasts…

Silestone® walls: Starlight Eco Line

For the sake of contrast, elegance and functionality, the Starlight colour from the Silestone® Eco Line was used for the wall cladding in the bathrooms. This material was chosen in line with the use of recycled wood shavings for the ceilings and other cladding within the premises.

«The Silestone® Eco line collection uses natural resources in a rational, efficient way. its colours are manufactured using a minimum of 50% recycled materials»

The emphatic black colour of Starlight provides the perfect contrast to the white of the bathroom elements and the grey shades of the flooring. The scintillating gleam of the mirror shards which are incorporated into slabs of Silestone® Eco Line balances the light and the darkness in the room, and creates an unexpectedly bewitching visual effect.

The large format of the Silestone® Eco Line units used for the walls greatly reduces the number of joints in the final design. An impression of spotlessness, aesthetic continuity and perfect unity is guaranteed.

Eco Line, as a collection of Silestone® quartz surfaces, is ultra-resistant to stains, impact and scratching, has low liquid absorption and can be manufactured in large format slabs (up to 3,25 x 1,59 m). Allowing for easy cleaning and daily maintenance, it guarantees a level of hygiene essential for any bathroom, or for use in any project with these characteristics.
