In the charming little town of Albox, Almería, a house with modern lines and open plan spaces offers total openness to the outdoors. Designed by architect Andrés Oller Rodríguez from Arquivirtual, the house features several Cosentino products.
Dekton Danae, for example, covers an area of 250 square metres and creates a harmonious ambience reminiscent of the movement of sand in the desert. Its various shades of beige capture and distil the essence of the arid environment, while maintaining a thoroughly contemporary aesthetic.
An additional 315 square metres of Dekton Danae in the Grip+ version were used for the remaining floor area. This innovative and state-of-the-art Cosentino treatment provides a non-slip surface, making it suitable for wet areas such as bathrooms and outdoor areas, including those around the swimming pool. In particular, the swimming pool itself is clad in Dekton Danae, bringing a modern sense of continuity to the overall design.
Dekton’s versatility allows it to be seamlessly integrated both indoors and outdoors thanks to its special properties: it is scratch and abrasion resistant, non-porous, easy to clean and resistant to both fire and frost. It also has the added benefit of being impervious to sunlight and is guaranteed to last up to 25 years.
Dekton also proves its versatility in bathroom countertops
Dekton makes its presence felt in this designer home through the worktops in the kitchen, bathroom and shower wall, all of which are finished in Dekton Kelya – a veined black colour that provides a striking contrast to the Dekton Danae floor. The same shade adorns the fireplace, taking advantage of Dekton’s ability to withstand extremely high temperatures and remain intact in the presence of fire.
In the same bathroom, another Cosentino product, Silestone, takes centre stage with its Haiku beige colour, used for the Kador Suite shower tray. With a softness similar to the finest silk, this stone is also resistant to scratches, stains (including acid stains) and knocks.
“Dekton and Silestone are materials with zero porosity, great hardness and a variety of textures,” says Oller Rodríguez, who confirms that he chose these products for their technical and design features.
Sustainability and advice, two key advantages of Cosentino products
Dekton and Silestone also contribute to the sustainability of the planet by respecting the environment both at this home and at Cosentino’s main production plant in Almería: both stones use 99% recycled water in their production process and rely on 100% renewable energy.
Silestone, in particular, contains a minimum of 20% recycled material in its composition. Dekton, on the other hand, stands out as a product with a zero carbon footprint from cradle to grave.
However, beyond its intrinsic qualities, Oller Rodríguez highlights the value that Cosentino as a company has added to his project. “They offer unbeatable service, which in our case included recommendations, advice and visits to the showroom. Moreover, the price is in line with the quality of their products,” he concludes.
