Bayfield Dream Home Lottery’s Designer Jillian Summers features Silestone in Grand Prize Home

The Bayfield Dream Home Lottery which supports London, Ontario hospitals is featuring a cottage-inspired grand prize home, complete with Silestone countertops donated through Casey’s Creative Kitchens for installation in the kitchen and master ensuite designs.

We sat down with the home’s interior designer Jillian Summers, Founder of Upstaging Limited, to discover her personal connection to the home and how she drew inspiration for the project.

Why is the kitchen so important to you?

While keeping functionality in mind, I am also always thinking of the purpose of the space in my designs. With this cottage kitchen, I wanted to emphasize the importance of family memories. The kitchen is where most of the time is spent as “the heart of the home”, and being able to connect and relax with family is the key to cottage living.

"

Where did you find inspiration for the design of the kitchen?

While designing the kitchen, my inspiration was drawn from love and family. Creating the cottage environment is all about setting the stage for relaxation and family gatherings. I really wanted to focus on capturing those cottage vibes in a “Muskoka meets Bayfield” kitchen that is dramatic but still warm and cozy. We turned to Clancy’s Rainbow for our paint options and chose Benjamin Moore in Old Navy as the warm cabinetry colour. It really makes the countertops pop.

What is your favourite part about this kitchen?

My favourite part of the kitchen is the gallery wall, as it includes photos of my late father who passed away just over a year ago. The images are from when he was a young child at his cottage in Bayfield. A hint of history brings such a unique factor to this Bayfield Dream Home, paying tribute to other generations who enjoyed the well-known beach area. I also really love the gold accents within the kitchen that contrast with the entire house. From the light fixtures to the faucet, a hint of gold is seen throughout and contours well with the Silestone quartz countertops and butcher block wood island.

Why was Silestone in Eternal Calacatta Gold chosen for the ensuite countertops?

Eternal Calacatta Gold was chosen for the countertop in the ensuite because it provides a very clean and timeless design. The countertops feature a 6” depth which looks incredible in the space. The crisp white quartz with grey veining and subtle gold highlights contrast well with the blue cabinetry, accentuating the gold hardware and faucet, creating a one-of-a-kind master ensuite.

What makes this master ensuite extra special?

When I think of an ensuite, I think it should say “WOW”. It should be a luxurious, relaxing private oasis of your own. The large glass rectangular shower and mirror really gives this room that wow factor. The gold accents, countertops and pebble flooring in the shower adds just the right amount of detail to this dream ensuite.

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the design of the loft bathroom?

The inspiration for the design of the loft bathroom was based on enhancing typical rustic cottage aesthetic. The polished Silestone Statuario quartz countertop paired with grey wood flooring and vanity captures that cozy and warm cottage emotion. The upstairs loft bathroom is intended to be used by children or guests so I incorporated some quirky dog art work for the finishing touch.

The sold out draw will be held on July 18th with the winners being announced on July 19th. For more information visit: https://dreamitwinit.ca/
